Job Description
As the Payroll Manager, reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will own the payroll processing function for the Company’s domestic and international employees. The role is highly cross-functional with the Company’s People Operations (HR) & International teams. The position will also work closely with members of the accounting, contracting & FP&A teams for various financial reporting, commissions and other Company needs. Responsibilities:
- Lead the transformation of the Company’s global payroll processes to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing / submission of bi-weekly domestic and Canadian and monthly international payroll cycles.
- Lead the ADP Celergo implementation which streamlines the international payroll process for the Company’s international employees in 10+ countries. Includes providing recommendations, writing policies and procedures for both the Payroll & People Operations functions.
- Establish and document hire to retire processes and ensure continued compliance.
- Complete state and local registration for withholding & unemployment taxes.
- Review bonus & sales commissions calculations from People Operations / Contracting teams to ensure completeness & accuracy prior to payment.
- Lead Corporate, 401k and Workers Compensation audits.
- Partner with the People Operations team on the maintenance of employee data in ADP.
- Partner with the Company’s external tax advisors, legal advisors, etc. as needed to ensure payroll tax compliance both domestically and internationally.
- Collaborate with the FP&A team to review and analyze various payroll & benefits related metrics.
- Assist in other ad hoc projects, including but not limited to the adoption of any new payroll compliance matters, SOX implementation, the identification of process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the Company, etc.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in payroll processing and/or HR roles.
- 3+ years of experience managing people, processes and/or consultants.
- Experience with global payroll.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Experience with ADP or equivalent systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in written and verbal form across all levels of the Company.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple activities simultaneously and independently.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
