Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$69,900.00 - $115,400.00

What Is the Opportunity?

This position is seeking a detail oriented Senior Accountant to join the Middle Market Financial Reporting and Controls team. The team is responsible for the GAAP monthly/quarterly financial support and internal controls of various markets within the Middle Market and BI Finance organizations. This individual is the financial liaison for specific markets providing monthly analysis of results and accounting/reporting support during the monthly close. In addition, under general direction, this individual is responsible for the analysis of income reconciliations, premium, loss and reinsurance results. This position does not manage others but must maintain key business partner relationships.

What Will You Do?

  • Perform monthly review of income statements and balance sheets for assigned markets, analyzing and reporting on variances and ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of results.
  • Support and communicate financial results by providing data and developing analyses for key financial metrics (i.e. premium and commissions, losses and reinsurance).
  • Communication of monthly/quarterly results to Middle Market CFO and Business Unit Finance leads.
  • Prepare and review monthly management reporting for assigned markets, including executive management books.
  • Support the monthly/quarterly GAAP CYP (Current Year Projection) reporting process for assigned markets within the Middle Market organization.
  • Prepare complex and review routine financial activities for various lines of business including journal entries and account reconciliation.
  • Perform financial controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Responsibilities will include extracting and analyzing data from FACTS General Ledger and TM1 applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
  • Typically 2-3 years related work experience.
  • General knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
  • General Knowledge: Possesses sufficient knowledge to perform most work in normal situations.
  • Intermediate time management skills.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate communication skills
  • Ability to work independently/as part of a team and to interact effectively with others across business area
  • Intermediate skill/competency level: demonstrates solid knowledge and ability; can apply the competency with minimal or no guidance, in the full range of typical situations. Requires guidance handling novel or more complex situations.

  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
