About the job:

As the Finance Director supporting the Sales Department, you’ll use data-driven insights to support the growth of our sale verticals, currently: fuel, grocery, and restaurants). The role will primarily support the sales function at Upside, including everything from setting the company’s sales goals and forecast to guiding senior sales decision makers on how to improve long-term sales initiatives through analysis and business insights. You’ll collaborate across Finance, Marketing, Operations, Product, Strategy and Sales on a day-to-day basis. What you’ll do:

  • Be the strategic finance business partner and provide thought leadership to our Sales and executive team
  • Work with Sales leaders to determine quarterly goals for sales teams and build reporting decks and dashboards for internal teams reporting on the progress to goals.
  • Analyze sales funnel metrics for the sales team, finding opportunities for improvement and formulating executable solutions.
  • Be the thought partner to Sales Leadership to ensure commission plan design drives desired outcomes, and ensure the commissions can be properly forecasted and calculated
  • Support our Sales Operations team in calculating quarterly commissions across the business
  • Build financial models to evaluate partnership opportunities and enterprise sales opportunities
  • Lead detailed analysis of growth scenarios and assist in planning market expansion - evaluating each from a financial perspective by quantifying the impact on revenue and expenses to both Upside and the merchant (if applicable).
  • Support ad-hoc sales, marketing, and product analytics initiatives.

What you need:

  • 10+ years of work experience in an analytics role, preferably in corporate finance or tech.
  • Proficiency in Excel and SQL is required. Familiarity with Looker and Salesforce is a plus
  • Previous experience working with and presenting to internal stakeholders.
  • Self-starter work ethic, entrepreneurial personality.
  • Outstanding analytical, critical thinking and quantitative skills.
  • Rigorous attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing, early-stage business.
  • Creativity and imagination in deal structures
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Unlimited and unrestricted ability to work in the United States. We currently do not provide visa sponsorship.

  • This role will sit full-time at our Washington, D.C. headquarters, Monday - Friday. Full Covid-19 vaccination is required to enter all Upside offices.
