Role Overview:

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the Company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, sound internal controls, and effective financial management. The role supports business decision-making through financial analysis, maintains compliance with Tanzanian tax and regulatory requirements, supervises the finance team, and assists the Financial Controller in driving operational excellence across the finance function.

Responsibilities:

● Supervise the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Company policies.

● Review and approve journals, invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, reconciliations, and other accounting entries before posting to the accounting system.

● Oversee cash management, petty cash administration, bank transactions, payment processing, and month-end and year-end financial closing activities.

● Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial reports, and performance analyses to support management decision-making.

● Analyze revenue, operating expenses, inventory performance, cost of goods sold, gross margins, and other key financial indicators, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

● Review and approve bank, supplier, customer, inventory, fixed asset, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.

● Oversee inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, revenue recognition, cost controls, and working capital management to support operational efficiency.

● Monitor and optimize the Company's working capital position by overseeing receivables, payables, inventory levels, and other key working capital drivers to support operational efficiency and financial sustainability.

● Prepare, review, and ensure timely submission of VAT, PAYE, SDL, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, and all other statutory returns in compliance with applicable laws.

● Serve as the primary operational liaison with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) by coordinating tax audits, assessments, reconciliations, statutory inspections, and regulatory correspondence.

● Ensure compliance with TRA requirements, Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) procedures, applicable accounting standards, statutory reporting obligations, and Company financial policies.

● Coordinate and support the planning and execution of external audits by preparing audit schedules, facilitating the provision of financial information, responding to audit queries, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings, strengthening internal controls, and supporting regulatory inspections.

● Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure accurate recording of asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and supporting documentation.

● Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop Finance Officers, Senior Accountants, and other finance personnel by allocating responsibilities, monitoring performance, and promoting professional development.

● Support the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and strategic financial plans while monitoring financial performance against approved budgets.

● Support the preparation, monitoring, and continuous updating of cash flow forecasts and liquidity plans to ensure adequate funding for operational and strategic business requirements while identifying potential liquidity risks and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.

● Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, internal controls, accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting tools to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.

● Assist the Financial Controller with strategic finance initiatives and provide operational leadership to the Finance Department in the absence of the Financial Controller.

● Perform any other finance, accounting, compliance, or administrative duties as may be assigned by the Financial Controller, Chief Executive Officer, or any other authorized representative of the Company.

Qualification and Experience:

● Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

● CPA (T), ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is an added advantage

● Minimum of four (4) years' progressive experience in accounting and finance, including experience in financial management.

● Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax legislation, Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements, statutory compliance, and financial reporting.

● Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.

● Strong analytical, leadership, communication, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

● Demonstrated integrity, accountability, professionalism, accuracy, ability to learn and exceptional attention to detail.

● Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related discipline
  • CPA (T), ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum of four (4) years progressive experience in accounting and finance, including financial management
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax legislation and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools
  • Experience preparing and submitting VAT, PAYE, SDL, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Income Tax returns
  • Experience with Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) procedures and statutory reporting compliance
  • Experience managing cash, reconciliations, fixed asset register, inventory accounting, and month-end/year-end close
  • Proven supervisory, coaching, and team development experience in a finance function
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
