Job DescriptionAt Wise, we are on a mission to move money globally with ease, transparency, and complete accuracy. To support our continued growth, our Accounting team in Tallinn is looking for a Finance Payment Journaling Specialist. If you bring strong financial expertise, take proactive ownership of your work, and thrive in a collaborative, international environment, we would love to connect with you.
Your Mission:
- Record all movements on internal bank accounts.
- Execute month-end closing tasks.
- Prepare bank account reconciliations.
- Assist in providing documentation for internal and external audits.
- Manage recording-related queries via email, Slack, and Jira.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in our recording and reconciliation processes.
- Support team lead with projects.
- Assist with risks and controls related to financial records.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be currently based in Estonia with valid work authorization.
- Ability to work autonomously, make decisions, and take initiative.
- Strong experience in bank reconciliations and bookkeeping/journal entries.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Cooperative mindset with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Understanding of core accounting principles.

Our Hiring Process
- Application Review: We evaluate your background in finance, accounting, or payments, focusing on relevant experience with bank reconciliations, bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Screening Call with a Recruiter (30 mins): A brief conversation via Google Meet (for external candidates) to discuss your motivation to join Wise, relevant technical skills, notice period, salary expectations, work authorization in Estonia, and alignment with our hybrid office model.
- 1st Interview with the Team (60 mins): A deeper dive into your experience, leadership expectations, how you handle fast-changing environments, manage multiple deadlines, collaborate across teams, and give/receive feedback.
- Final Interview (60 mins): A conversation focused on your past projects, how you handle high-workload periods, and your strategy for managing repetitive tasks with accuracy and high attention to detail.
Additional Information
Contract Type: This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months (FTC) to support our team's growth.

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.
We expect new joiners in the office most days to build connections and learn from colleagues for their first six months. After that, most Wisers split their working week between the office and home, typically coming in at least 12 times a month.
