At Sky Czech Republic, we’re building the tech backbone that powers some of the world’s biggest streaming services. Ever heard of Peacock in the U.S., Showmax in Africa, or Sky Showtime in the Czech Republic? They all run on our global streaming platform—a kind of technological skeleton where each service plugs in its own content and branding. Our platform serves millions of users worldwide. Just to give you an idea—Peacock alone has over 40 million users in the U.S.
Thousands of engineers globally are shaping this platform, and our Prague tech hub is a key part of that effort. But we don’t just keep the engine running—we push the boundaries of what’s possible in tech, alongside teams from Lisbon, London, and New York. Here in Prague, we have teams specializing in frontend development (including mobile, TV, and web), backend development (Java), DevOps & Platform Engineering, AWS, and data science.
What is the plot?
Our Business Operations team is a small, close-knit group that looks after office management, HR, recruitment, employer branding, and finance. We help keep everyday life running smoothly for our colleagues in the Prague tech hub.
As our Prague site continues to grow in scale and complexity, we are strengthening our local leadership team with a Finance Manager who will act as the single point of financial accountability for the Czech entity.
What role will you play?
This role reports to the Head of Business Operations and serves as a trusted financial advisor and challenger to local leadership. You will own the financial narrative of Sky CZ end-to-end—ensuring transparency, discipline, and decision-ready insight—while enabling the business to move fast without surprises.
Sky CZ operates on a cost-plus model, with close interaction across Group Finance teams in the UK, EU, and US.
You will take full ownership of the financial story of Sky Czech Republic and ensure the organization can move quickly without financial surprises. Leadership will rely on your numbers and your judgement, and you’ll be the person they turn to when making decisions that impact the future of the site. You’ll surface risks early, translate financial trade‑offs into simple choices, and help teams stay focused while keeping costs under control.
You’ll work closely with local leadership, HR, Procurement, Workplace, Finance colleagues across multiple countries, and external partners such as auditors and tax advisors. The role suits someone who enjoys being at the center of the business, takes ownership naturally, and is comfortable guiding teams through financially complex situations with clarity and confidence.
Your daily tasks:
Financial Ownership & Business Insight: Act as the single owner of Sky CZ’s financial picture; lead budgeting and forecasting cycles; maintain cost and scenario models (hiring pace, vendor spend, FX, inflation); produce monthly reporting and commentary; highlight risks early and provide clear recommendations to leadership.
People Cost Controlling: Plan, track, and control people costs; partner with HR on salary reviews, bonuses, and contract changes; act as the financial counterbalance in people decisions; ensure hiring and internal moves stay within budget.
Vendor Management & Commercial Partnering: Own vendor management for the Czech site; manage financial risks and long‑term commitments; work closely with Group Procurement, Finance, HR, and Workplace; represent Sky CZ with external partners and suppliers.
Invoice Management, Accruals & Intercompany: Oversee invoice and payment processes end‑to‑end; manage accruals and intercompany charges; ensure a clean, timely, and accurate month‑end close.
Tax, Audit & Compliance: Own the local tax and compliance agenda; prepare monthly VAT reporting and coordinate with KPMG; partner with Deloitte during audits; act as the primary finance contact for Czech authorities (including the tax office).
What skills do you need to play your role well?
Finance & controlling expertise: 7+ years in Finance, Controlling, FP&A, or Business Partnering, with a strong command of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Month‑end discipline: Confident handling accruals, balance sheet reviews, and intercompany recharges while keeping month‑end close clean, accurate, and on time.
Statutory & audit knowledge: Solid understanding of Czech statutory, tax, and VAT requirements, with practical experience supporting audits and working with external advisors.
Stakeholder partnering: Able to challenge and support senior leaders; builds trust through clear explanations, sound judgement, and transparent communication.
Analytical tools & systems: Advanced Excel skills (modelling, reporting, variance analysis) and comfortable working in ERP systems — SAP/Ariba is a plus.
Digital curiosity: Open to learning automation tools (AI, Python) and improving financial processes through smarter ways of working.
Ownership & accountability: High sense of responsibility, pragmatic mindset, calm under pressure, and able to anticipate risks before they escalate.
Credibility & professionalism: A trusted partner who provides reliable insight, maintains confidentiality, and communicates clearly and constructively.
Language: Native or near‑native Czech and strong English.
Working model: Based in the Prague office with regular onsite presence expected.
