Universal Logistics Holdings is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial analysis for our logistics and transportation operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience managing financial processes, and the ability to partner with operational leaders to drive profitability and support strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve operational performance and profitability.
  • Partner with operations, accounting, and executive leadership to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation, warehousing, and logistics operations.
  • Prepare variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes in collaboration with the accounting team.
  • Assist with audits, tax reporting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Evaluate financial risks and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage and develop finance staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in mergers, acquisitions, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including complex formulas, financial modeling, and large dataset analysis.
  • Strong experience working with relational databases, ERP systems, and business intelligence/reporting tools.
  • Ability to independently manage ambiguous analytical projects with minimal direction.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.

Preferred

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot or similar analytics tools.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations.
  • Strong commercial/business acumen with the ability to connect financial analysis to operational decision-making.
  • Experience managing or mentoring finance professionals.
