What this job involves:
As a member of the REMS Controllership team, you will be part of the finance controllership for one of our dynamic and high growth businesses. This role will need to perform accounting functions for the designated business including month end closing, audit, business support, revenue recognition, project costing, POCM, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inter-company transactions.
Specific job areas
- Revenue recognition for PDS business
- Project costing and control over working capital for PDS business
- AR monitoring and relevant controls including DSO calculation, retention monitoring, write off cases, credit note issuance
- Conduct account reconciliation periodically, ledger close activities, and provide accurate financial data to support management in decision-making.
- Balance sheet reconciliations – timely tracking of unbilled, deferred, vendor advance, AP and AR and ensure balances carried are valid and supported
- Address accounting concerns, share best practices and initiatives across REMS finance stakeholders.
- Managing internal and external audits
- Oversee and maintain internal control environment and assist in resolution of any accounting and internal control issues
- Maintaining and effective Controls & Compliance environment
- Develop and recommend new processes for risk analysis to comply with SOX certification requirements.
- Being a business partner and advisor to support accounting queries
- Any other ad hoc tasks
Ideal Candidate
An ideal applicant will be a qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 5+years of extensive experience in the areas of revenue recognition, project costing, financial reporting, accounting, and statutory compliance. Prior working experience in real estate/construction Industry would be an added advantage but not mandatory. Must be well versed with various revenue recognition methods and have practical experience in their application. Ideal to have handled a small team of 3-5 at least in a manager/team lead role.
Able to communicate
You have excellent interpersonal skills and is able to manage through influence. The role requires extensive business interactions at various levels including senior leaders. You also have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Possess thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, excellent knowledge of Advanced MS Excel functions.
Capable
You have good work ethic and a positive attitude. A “can do” mind-set and will follow through on issues. You are also a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and complete projects in a timely and efficient manner. On top of that, you are process oriented and an advocate of standardization and consolidation of finance functions.
Familiarity with US GAAP and management accounting practices of a US MNC would be an advantage
Team player
A team player who promotes open, constructive and collaborative relations with superiors, subordinates and peers. On top of that, you are culturally sensitive and able to navigate around different nationalities.
