A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Finance & Grants Analyst to join its Finance team. This role is ideal for a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with experience in nonprofit grant accounting, financial compliance, and grants management.
The Finance & Grants Analyst will play a key role in managing the financial administration of grants and contracts from award through closeout. This position partners closely with program leadership and finance teams to ensure accurate billing, compliance, reporting, forecasting, and revenue recognition across multiple funding sources.
Responsibilities:
- Manage financial coordination of grants and contracts from award through closeout
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements, GAAP standards, and internal policies
- Prepare and review grant billings, including cost-reimbursement and flat-rate invoices
- Perform monthly grant revenue recognition, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Monitor grant-related accounts receivable and resolve discrepancies
- Develop and maintain budget-to-actual reporting and financial analyses
- Coordinate payroll and non-payroll allocations for assigned grants
- Support grant audits, funder reviews, and compliance monitoring activities
- Assist with annual audit preparation and financial reporting
- Collaborate with program teams on budgeting, grant amendments, and financial planning
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced financial controls
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 2–4 years of nonprofit grant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, grant accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting systems; Financial Edge experience preferred
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced environments
Skills Required
