Overview:
This director will lead BUF controllers, working closely with Business Units in Japan Innovative Medicine to drive desired business results. The director provides guidance to BUF controllers on various financial responsibilities, from managing the daily activities of the financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, advanced analytics, and OPEX management for the business units. The director partners with the BU on strategic portfolio and resourcing decision as part of the BU LT team. The director reports to J&J Innovative Medicine Japan CFO and leads total company sales planning and analysis, including preparing and framing for senior management reviews, both for Japan and regional level. The director pays a key role in talent and cross sector finance team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Business Unit controller group, working closely with business unit leaders (VP, Snr director and directors) and manages the financial planning, reporting and analysis for the business unit.
- Deeply understands the business and, with strong commercial acumen, co-develops business objectives and priorities of the business units, monitors performance and articulate strategies and execution priorities.
- Leads Total Company Sales FP&A process, including Long Range Financial Plan, business plan target setting, and submissions to APAC regional office.
- Identifies, communicates, and drives actions for risks and opportunities with the management in a timely and transparent manner.
- Drives the business plan process including calendar management, prepares presentations for the business plan and all forecast updates for management.
- Leads IBP process and system as a finance lead, works closely with Supply Chain team and understands the gap between financial plan and demand plan.
- Identifies risk/ opportunities for the target achievement and shares with the management in a timely and transparent manner.
- Supports investment decisions and resource prioritizations within BU and escalates to the leadership team as needed.
- Ensures timely reporting of financials and continuously "set the tone" for a strong compliance environment for both Finance team & Business units and develops, evaluates & implements internal controls, financial policies and procedures as needed.
- Manages a team of 4 with 2 direct reports and develops Japan cross sector talent pipeline and succession plan.
Qualifications:
- MBA or relevant Finance degree
- Minimum 10-15 years of within the Finance function or with relevant experience in finance, strategy roles or corporate finance, experiences in pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Strategic and Ability to adapt to dynamic, rapidly changing business environment.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor as well as experience resolving complex business problems with well-structured analytics.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives across a breadth of stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strategic talent mindset is highly required, and people leader experience is a must
- Global or multi-national business experience strongly preferred.
- English skill in both writing and speaking
