The Director of Finance is responsible for the general accounting and reporting, accounts payable and business office functions. Other key responsibilities include assisting with annual budgeting, financial and business analysis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for validating the accuracy of general ledger and financial records
2. Records, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
3. Prepares designated financial reports on a regularly scheduled basis. Maintains a close working relationship with the contracted Management company finance director.
4. Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and reconciles differences.
5. Develops financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
6. Oversees the accounts payable function and ensures that vendor payments are made timely.
7. Focus on adding value through cost reduction or revenue enhancement strategies. Serves as a resource person for other department heads, superiors, peers and subordinates for annual budget preparation.
8. Coordinates year-end activities including Medicare and Medicaid audits and the annual financial audit. Supplying information for audit requests.
9. Prepares investment account analysis schedules and postings to general ledger.
10. Oversees the business office functions and staff to ensure that timely and correct Medicare Part A, Part B, Medicaid and Private Pay bills are processed.
11. Maintains and coordinates banking relationships.
12. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuring
resident safety.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting with related healthcare accounting and finance experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
2. Minimum of three to five years’ accounting and finance experience with general ledger close through financial statement preparation. Previous long-term care or hospital accounting and finance experience preferred.
3. Proficient in Microsoft office applications - specifically Excel and Word, and other key business financial or business management systems.
4. Willingness to grow personally and develop staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift 20 pounds; may be exposed to a constant noise level due to equipment located in the office.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
