We make health happen

At Bupa, our purpose is simple: helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. As a healthcare provider and insurer with no shareholders, our focus is always on our customers and our people.

As a Finance Controls & Governance Manager – Financial Reporting Frameworks, you’ll play an important role in supporting this purpose. You'll help make sure our financial reporting controls are effective, well managed and aligned with the standards expected across the business. Your work will help strengthen confidence in our reporting, support good decision-making and contribute to the way we manage risk across Bupa.

This is a varied role where you'll work closely with finance teams, risk specialists, audit colleagues and stakeholders across our Market Units. You'll have the opportunity to influence best practice, support business change and help shape how financial controls and governance continue to evolve across a global organisation.

How you’ll help us make health happen

  • Maintain and improve financial reporting control frameworks across Group Finance.

  • Support finance teams with risk, control and process documentation, including risk registers, process maps and control records.

  • Help ensure governance, risk and control information is accurate and up to date within reporting systems.

  • Support compliance with enterprise financial control policies and help roll out new requirements across the business.

  • Maintain and update financial reporting and Solvency II reporting policies and supporting guidance.

  • Monitor and report on key controls and risk indicators across Group and Market Unit finance teams.

  • Support the annual Internal Control and Risk Management Assessment process.

  • Carry out independent testing of material financial reporting controls to support Board reporting and governance requirements.

  • Deliver training and guidance to stakeholders on financial controls, reporting requirements and good practice.

  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Risk, Internal Audit and business teams to support a consistent approach to controls and governance.

What you’ll bring

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and improving the way things work.

You'll ideally have:

  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent, or a relevant internal controls qualification.

  • Experience in financial reporting, financial controls, finance risk management or governance.

  • Good understanding of financial control frameworks, risk management and reporting processes.

  • Experience of reviewing, improving or implementing financial controls.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical topics in a clear and simple way.

  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders, including people from non-finance backgrounds.

  • A proactive and curious approach, with a willingness to support projects and continuous improvement activity.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.

  • Experience of finance transformation, change programmes or large corporate environments would be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of automation, systems controls or end-user computing controls would be an advantage.
