The Finance Analyst provides end-to-end compliance support for assigned Malaysia entities by owning statutory reporting, audit coordination, and selected local tax compliance activities. The role serves as a key link between accounting and tax requirements, working closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and tax authorities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant statutory and tax filings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with US GAAP, local GAAP, and statutory requirements.
- Own end-to-end statutory audit coordination, including audit planning, preparation of supporting schedules, management of auditor queries, and timely completion of audits.
- Coordinate and support local tax compliance activities, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, stamp duty, and other regulatory filings for assigned entities.
- Prepare and reconcile accounting and tax-related schedules to ensure consistency between statutory financial statements and tax filings.
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities, including the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), for routine compliance matters, audits, inquiries, and information requests.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors on tax return preparation, tax computations, tax estimates, amendments, and tax audit support while maintaining ownership of data quality and issue resolution.
- Support the management of non-routine compliance matters, including tax audits, IRB reviews, stamp duty assessments, and other regulatory inquiries.
- Partner with Finance, Tax, Legal, Treasury, and shared service teams to resolve compliance-related issues.
- Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and business continuity risks, and recommend improvements to strengthen compliance execution and audit readiness.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and support files for statutory and tax deliverables.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, CA, MIA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in statutory reporting, audit, tax compliance, or financial compliance, preferably in an MNC environment.
- Big 4 audit or tax experience preferred.
- Experience working with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities.
- Working knowledge of corporate income tax, withholding tax, and stamp duty requirements.
