Leidos is seeking a talented Field Operations Specialist to join our diverse team and create unique solutions to complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
Field Operations personnel provide on-site technical and sustainment support of existing hardware, software, network configurations and new system initiatives at supported customer sites. They provide technical advice for supported products and services, support equipment, and electronic equipment installations. They maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems, and determine the actions necessary to correct malfunctions or design issues. Field Operations staff also provide guidance for the handling, installation, and utilization of various complex systems and equipment.
This particular position provides sustainment and field support for the U.S. Army 1st Space Brigade’s space control systems. Work is performed at multiple customer locations in Colorado Springs, CO, and at deployed locations worldwide. Contractors deploy with the system to provide on-site support as needed for up to 90-day periods. In this position, the Field Operations Specialist serves as a member of a contractor sustainment team and works closely with military team members to support mission needs. They must be knowledgeable of deployed operations where resources may be limited and a great deal of ingenuity is often required to solve problems.
Primary Responsibilities
Candidate selected for this position will:
- Analyze and resolve Army SATCOM technical issues.
- Perform routine, non-routine, and complex maintenance assignments for supported SATCOM systems. This support includes the following sub-systems: communications, networking, antenna, power, timing, signal distribution, trucks, trailers, environmental control, and support equipment.
- Perform equipment assembly, configuration, installation, integration, calibration, and test.
- Provide technical advice, assistance, and maintenance services to military SATCOM operators and their managers.
- Identify and troubleshoot system problems. Conduct tests using a wide range of instruments and test equipment. Analyze results to restore systems or improve performance. Document and report results.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, mission engineering of all SATCOM equipment prior to CONUS or OCONUS operations.
- Participate in training exercises and system deployments.
- Maintain deployment readiness. (Passports, visas, training, medical, security)
- Assist engineers with system design, integration and test activities.
- Assist the sustainment team with the procurement of equipment and parts.
- Adhere to operations, maintenance and organizational procedures and policies. Review, edit, and recommend changes to technical and procedural documentation.
- Account for and ensure positive control of critical resources.
- Maintain workplace and personnel safety by identifying and mitigating risks and intervening to prevent mishaps.
- Provide telephonic support as required to help isolate and resolve issues.
- Participate in system and technical training.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4-8 or more years of relevant work experience. Additional experience and technical training may substitute for degree requirement.
- Training and experience in SATCOM operations, troubleshooting, repair, and electronics.
- Must be reliable and demonstrate a high standard of personal integrity.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong customer-service skills and a high degree of professionalism.
- U.S. Citizenship and current U.S. passport.
- Candidate must reside in the Colorado Springs, CO area or be willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs, CO area.
- Current Secret clearance and eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deployed military mobile or tactical SATCOM experience.
- Relevant military space control experience.
- Experience working successfully as a member of a technical team.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Information Assurance and Risk Management Framework experience.
- Shift work experience.
- Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Current TS/SCI clearance is preferred.

Pay Range:Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
