About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Planner to join our dynamic team. As an emerging engineering and operations-led company, this high-visibility role is pivotal in shaping and driving the company's upfront product strategies, while driving crucial decisions on how and where we manufacture our hardware. You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Program Management, & Operations to ensure we are selling what we can deliver, and that we are pushing the boundaries of commercial space products and services to make space more affordable and accessible to all on Earth.
Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Lead the operations organization within the product strategy process to ensure early engagement and drive key decisions on make/buy, design for manufacturing/cost (DFM/C), and a key member working with the CTO and Sales in defining future products and technology investments.


  • Make/buy: Key driver of the make/buy process with a heavy lean toward vertical integration.


  • Proposals: Lead for the Operations organization on proposals to ensure we develop and propose not only executable programs and products, but driving for better, faster, and cheaper solutions from Operations to implement into the proposed solution to ensure a winning bid.


  • Partnership with Engineering & Supply Chain: Focus on driving vertical integration in the right areas for the company, while working closely with our supply chain partners to ensure we have the right suppliers/partners for our products


  • Handoff to Execution: Work hand in hand with Production, Supply Chain, Planning, Scheduling, etc. to ensure that execution teams across the organization understand the plan and are set up for success upon contract execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and typically ten (6) or more years of relevant experience; higher education may substitute for relevant experience.


  • Demonstrated passion for working on high technology applications for space missions.


  • Experience working the development of product strategies in close partnership with Operations, Sales, Engineering, and Program/product teams.


  • Proven collaboration, team building, active listening, and critical thinking skills along with the ability to guide and motivate a team through challenges to optimize results.


  • Prior experience in leading Make/Buy and source selection decisions.


  • Ability to drive decision making across the company to include executive leadership.


  • Experience in strategic supply chain management and planning, including managing large-scale/complex programs with significant supply chain scope.


  • Strong leadership skills in organizing, coordinating & leading a diverse team (program management and technical) from proposal/capture stage through program execution.


  • Experience in Procurement, Planning, and/or Subcontracts Administrative roles, experience in leading or as a member of a Subcontract Management Team.


  • Extensive knowledge of program and proposal management activities, process, and procedures relative to Department of Defense, federal or state government and commercial programs.


  • Strong analytical background in preparing, reviewing, and submitting proposals and/or quotes.


  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


  • Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) compliance


  • Must be able to travel to domestic and international locations as required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ability to obtain an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance.


  • Experience with complex spacecraft and payload programs within government and commercial sectors.


  • Working knowledge of US Government budgeting and DoD acquisition processes


  • Knowledge of acquisition policies and procedures associated with FAR / DFAR requirements and TINA.


  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
$104,827.91 - $144,138.39
