Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH Technologies is seeking a Field Engineer (FE) who will be responsible for the Local Receive Facility (LRF). This includes hands-on support to all teams with equipment that make up the LRF. The Engineer will be assigned a specific region, however, they may be required to cover any site. The FE is required to support and be available 24 x 7 x 365 except when on Personal Time Off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full knowledge of LRF systems, and how the system relates to the uplink systems
- Takes action based on experience and knowledge of Field Engineering procedures, about the potential effects on other areas
- Provide on-call support through the department on call rotation
- Maintains a specific self-development plan and proactively drives the development plan through the supervisor
- Performs complex tasks and projects with the Field Engineering department's overall goals and objectives in mind, while keeping other areas informed on potential effects on them
- Write Statement of Work to solicit bids from contractors, and verify completed work against, examples may include, but are not limited to, work completed by a local electrician, tower company, data centers, and UPS vendors
- Work with DISH team members and providers to resolve issues that impact service offerings
- Responsible for ensuring optimum performance of DISH LRF equipment, this may include system optimization, installation, replacement, modification, and preventative maintenance of DISH, HVAC, and UPS systems
- Evaluate potential LRF colocation facilities to ensure a cost-effective solution, signal collection optimization, facility support, Telco supportability, and support systems
- Develop and maintain detailed As-Built records for each LRF, each must be updated every year at a minimum, and be stored on the core data repository; these records include but are not limited to, matrices, current system site photos, antenna infrastructure, Telco runs, access data, site inventories, local contact information, local contractor contacts, HVAC systems, RF runs, archive data, and other miscellaneous documentation supporting the needs of other departments
- Monitor and document the RF collected at the LRF; documentation is to be maintained both locally and on the core data repository; documentation will include RF levels, MER, and Analyzer screenshots
- Learn and utilize DISH support tools: service database, ticketing, inventory, and dispatch systems
- Develop the planning and documentation to be used for system changes and equipment shipments
- Request equipment deliveries that meet the most cost-effective shipping solution
- Plan and manage time to meet the requirements of the position, and prioritize work to efficiently use time and resources
- Responsible for the awareness and basic understanding of capital expenditures and financial impacts on the company; the FE needs to determine the most cost-effective utilization of company resources
- Participate as a team member, communicating effectively in both a written and oral manner and establishing a personal support network
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS preferred
- 5 years in Television Engineering or Cable TV Headend experience or other applicable field
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in RF collection and processing
- Experience in working with television reception via antenna over the air
- Experience with network cabling and a rudimentary understanding of IP networking
- Understanding of television signal collection and demodulation
- Basic electrical theory, including Ohms Law, Watts Law, and safe practices of grounding
- Understanding how to utilize DVMM and signal level meters
- Basic PC skills, including the ability to change IP address, install applications, basic networking, and the Windows environment
- Ability to function independently without direct supervision
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record, with a valid driver's license
- Ability to self-manage and plan
- Basic knowledge of television broadcasting formats and theory.
- Basic knowledge of digital data transmission and how to troubleshoot issues and interpret test equipment readings
- Ability to read and write technical specifications
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops
- Ability to work inside and outside in any weather
- Good credit record that will allow expenses to be paid through a reimbursement program
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Salary Ranges
Compensation: $70,000.00/Year - $84,875.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
