Field Applications Engineer

Role

The primary objective of this role is to technically support the sales team both in pre-sales and post-sale activities and to feed back current market and customer information to the responsible business units. Silicon Labs’ IoT products include multi-protocol wireless SoC’s, 32-bit ARM Cortex-based MCU’s, 8-bit 8051 MCU’s, and Sensors.  Our Wireless portfolio includes many different transceivers and wireless MCUs for applications like Bluetooth, Zigbee, IEEE 802.15.4 mesh networking, and proprietary wireless radios. Our devices simplify design effort, reduce BOM cost and accelerate time to market for a wide range of industrial and communications applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to key accounts customers as well as channel partners’ customers.

• Provide technical support in all phases of the design-in process as well as to gain the design-win.

• Assist the sales team to carry out pre-sales promotion, customer training, demo board building, technical product presentation, troubleshoot in field, software programming, write up applications note, conduct workshop, etc.

• Drive channel partner FAE to carry out business promotion and technical support

• Work closely with Product Marketing and related Business Units to provide update, feedback or information in the respective specialty areas

Skills & Abilities 

• Bachelor in Electrical or related field

• + 5 years of industry experience

• Strong embedded C programming experience

• Knowledge of microcontrollers (MCU) preferred

• Experience with RF applications is a plus

• Exposure to wireless protocols is a plus (BLE, Zigbee, Thread, Z-wave, WiFi)

• Must be fluent in German

• Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English

• Must be self-starter type to initiate necessary or expected actions

• Ability to understand not only chip & board level, but system level design
