Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced FF&E Specialist with 3-5 years of professional experience to join our growing multidisciplinary design team. This role is ideal for a designer with a genuine passion for furniture design, materials, and the role FF&E plays in creating exceptional interior environments, paired with the technical knowledge and attention to detail required to deliver high-quality projects.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working on Workplace FF&E projects, with strong capabilities in space planning, furniture selection and specification, and code analysis, and an understanding of the pace and coordination required to successfully deliver workplace projects.
Working alongside architectural interior designers, architects, project managers, and industry partners, the FF&E Specialist will contribute to thoughtful, highly detailed FF&E solutions with a strong focus on design excellence, quality, and project standards.

Common and Baseline Responsibilities

  • Supports FF&E design and project delivery from concept through installation and closeout.
  • Collaborates closely with architectural interior designers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop FF&E solutions that complement and strengthen the overall interior design concept.
  • Sources, selects, and specifies furniture, finishes, equipment, accessories, and materials with a strong focus on design excellence and project standards.
  • Develops thoughtful and functional workplace space plans and furniture solutions that respond to programming, client needs, and the overall design vision.
  • Develops and writes detailed FF&E specifications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with design intent.
  • Produces and coordinates FF&E plans, schedules, specifications, and drawing packages in Revit.
  • Applies knowledge of code, accessibility, egress, clearances, and life-safety requirements throughout space planning and furniture design.
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail throughout design, documentation, specification, and execution.
  • Prepares and confidently presents FF&E concepts, space plans, furniture selections, material palettes, and recommendations to clients, clearly communicating design intent.
  • Supports FF&E project management including project kickoff, scheduling, budgeting, documentation, procurement coordination, installation, punch, and closeout.
  • Manages responsibilities across multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing deadlines within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Coordinates with project teams, consultants, clients, manufacturers, dealers, procurement partners, and installers.
  • Understands and supports the FF&E bidding process, including bid documentation, dealer coordination, bid review and leveling, substitutions, and final recommendations.
  • Collaborates with industry partners to evaluate product solutions, pricing, lead times, performance, and alternatives in support of the client's project goals.
  • Participates in client meetings, project coordination meetings, site visits, and installation observations.
  • Applies knowledge of Workplace design and planning to furniture selection, specification, functionality, space planning, and project execution.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with manufacturers, dealer partners, representatives, and other industry resources.
  • Researches emerging products, furniture solutions, materials, and workplace trends to continually advance the team's design knowledge.
  • Contributes to FF&E standards, processes, and resources that support consistent, high-quality project delivery.

Proficiencies

  • 3-5 years of professional Interior Design and FF&E experience.
  • Professional degree in Interior Design or related field; CIDA-accredited degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated project history in Workplace FF&E design and delivery.
  • Strong design sensibility and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong space planning skills, with the ability to translate programming, client needs, and project requirements into thoughtful workplace solutions.
  • Strong understanding of code analysis and application within commercial interior environments.
  • Proficiency in Revit and experience developing coordinated FF&E documentation.
  • Experience developing FF&E packages from concept through specification, bidding, procurement, installation, and closeout.
  • Working knowledge of the FF&E bidding and procurement process, including bid review and leveling.
  • Strong understanding of FF&E project management, schedules, budgets, and project coordination.
  • Knowledge of the commercial furniture industry and experience working with manufacturers, representatives, dealers, procurement partners, and installers.
  • Strong client-facing and presentation skills, with the confidence to communicate space planning, furniture, material, and design recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to read and coordinate with architectural and interior construction documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary design environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of BOMA standards is a plus.
