In this position... 
We are seeking Feature Systems Engineer to take global core project responsibility for the modem data protection function (Customer Connectivity Settings) and the vehicle's connection to the FordPass app, including modem activation (FordPass Authorization). This role combines deep technical ownership of connectivity, cloud integration, and data-protection systems with cross-functional leadership, supplier coordination, and strategic influence on architecture and corporate direction

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Own global core project responsibility for the modem data protection function (Customer Connectivity Settings) and vehicle-to-FordPass app connectivity, including modem activation (FordPass Authorization)
  • Lead the integration of embedded systems with cloud-based services and infrastructure, ensuring secure and scalable solutions
  • Prepare clear, concise feasibility studies and use their findings to help shape corporate strategy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams  including software engineers, hardware designers, cybersecurity specialists, and cloud architects to define system requirements and specifications
  • Resolve interface issues with adjacent departments and define system requirements
  • Develop feature specifications, Feature Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) documentation, and feature verification plans
  • Ensure system designs meet rigorous performance, safety, and cybersecurity standards
  • Communicate complex systems, issues, and resolutions in a clear and concise manner across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Produce technical documentation and benchmarking studies for the specialist area
  • Build and maintain relationships with external bodies; represent Ford in industry committees and at conferences
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees in the above fields
  • Train and raise awareness among Global Core Feature System Engineers and developers on connectivity and data protection topics
     
Qualifications

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in the automotive or a similar industry, specializing in highly complex electrical software systems.
  • Demonstrated 1 year expertise in the architecture and design of infotainment and embedded systems.
  • Minimum 1yr experience with cloud systems architecture, services, and integration patterns.

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with vehicle privacy and consent platforms, or other advanced vehicle access/authorization solutions.
  • Proficiency in and authoring structured configuration / data files (JSON/XML) and reasoning about how configuration drives runtime behavior 
  • Proficiency with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices as applied to vehicle access systems.
  • Experience working in Agile development environment

This position is salary grades 6-8 and ranges from $74,300-$166,200. 


Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
