Summary:

The Nurse Supervisor role combines clinical knowledge with leadership and administrative responsibilities.  It requires balancing patient care oversight, staff management, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and high-quality healthcare delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day to day supervision of assigned centralized nursing staff and oversight of day to day patient care. Coordinates scheduling and coverage. Onboard new nursing/medication aide hires, orient to medical processes including pharmacy procedures.  Ensures required trainings and licensures are maintained.  Assists DON with provision of 24/7 on call consultation for nursing and med tech staff.
  • Facilitates training of nurses and medication aids/techs. Consults with center directors regarding nursing concerns including administrative duties. Work to promote a positive work environment to enhance staff satisfaction and patient outcomes.
  • Provides direct patient care including assessment for admission, medication administration, and medication education on an as needed basis in order to maintain appropriate RN coverage for all FBCs.
  • Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

Special Attributes: Strong psychosocial, clinical assessment skills. Minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with professions and clients/families. Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly responsible for administrative supervision of all Centeral Nurses. Provides direct clinical supervision to nursing and med tech staff. Provides input to CPO, DON and center directors on administrative issues involving nursing staff.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education and/or Experience: Licensed as RN in NC with minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing. A four year BS degree in nursing is preferred. Prefer four years of experience in psychiatric nursing with minimum of 1 year supervisor/management experience. Actual work experience will be considered in addition to other requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in North Carolina
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Prefer four years of experience in psychiatric nursing
  • Prefer minimum of one year supervisory/management experience
  • Ability to provide administrative supervision (evaluations, hiring, disciplinary, scheduling)
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, training, and oversight of nursing and med tech staff
  • Experience with medication administration, medication education, and monitoring medication errors
  • Availability to provide 24/7 on-call consultation
  • Strong psychosocial and clinical assessment skills; effective communication and crisis decision-making
