Job DescriptionThis Senior Failure Analysis Engineer will debug Solid State Drive (SSD) failures discovered during internal validation as well as field failures from our customers. They will need to work on variety of different SSD architectures and SSD failure modes.
Successful candidate will collaborate with peer engineering teams across multiple domains (FW, HW, Platform, Validation, OS, drivers) to root cause issues exposed by internal validation as well as customer issues.
Candidate will debug SSD firmware and software (OS, driver, validation SW) to reach root cause on performance, reliability and functional issues. Issues can be complex and will require strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (FW, HW, platform, validation, driver). Candidate will use internal tools, PCIe/NVME protocol analyzers & FW debuggers to assist in reaching root cause.
Qualifications
- Architectural knowledge of NAND based Solid State Drives
- Basic operational understanding NAND memory devices
- Working experience with storage interfaces including PCIe/NVME, SATA and SAS.
- Analysis of SSD drive telemetry logs to set failure analysis hypotheses
- Working knowledge of Linux & Windows operating systems and ability to perform system level debug in these environments.
- Strong electronics background with experience in PCB development, embedded system arch/design, power systems for embedded systems.
- Strong experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers.
- Experience with script development via python and/or C
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Passionate about sharing FA methodology with junior failure analysis engineers

Additional InformationThe compensation range for this role is $121,280 - $194,100. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
