Vast is looking for a Facilities Technician, reporting to the Senior Manager, Construction, to support the development of the factory that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, control systems, and emergency backup systems.
- Installation & Upgrades: Install, replace, and upgrade electrical components such as wiring, conduits, circuit breakers, transformers, panels, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
- Emergency Response: Address electrical emergencies, diagnose issues, and execute prompt repairs to minimize downtime.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all electrical work meets local, state, and federal regulations, including NEC (National Electrical Code) compliance. Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain accurate records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to support facility upgrades and new construction projects.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors for specialized electrical work, conducting walk-downs, reviewing bids, and overseeing project completion.
- Support Functions: Assist with general facilities maintenance tasks when required, such as plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry, but with a primary focus on electrical systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of facilities and/or maintenance experience
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with facilities within an aerospace industry
- Experience in construction, project management, equipment maintenance, and tenant improvements
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air
- conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade
- Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods Familiar with industrial air fittings and maintenance
- Able to read instructions and blueprints
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment
- Self-motivated and works well with others
- Manage company provided set of basic maintenance tools
- Safety training and use of forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes & hoists, fall protection equipment
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
- Specific certifications, as appropriate
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Must have a valid CA driver’s license

$31—$55 USD
