External Communications Manager

Purpose:

The External Communications Manager is responsible for developing communications and managing projects to support Athene's recruitment, corporate social responsibility, and diversity, equity and inclusion strategies. This position will lead multi-channel communications to engage regional and community partners, prospective employees and local media.
This individual contributor is a vital member of the Human Resources department, reporting to the Director of Communications. This role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain Athene's reputation and communicate our commitment to community involvement, inclusion and employee engagement.

Accountabilities:

• Develop and Implement Strategies: Create and lead external communications strategies, plans, and campaigns.
• Media Relations: Coordinate media outreach, partner with journalists, and serve as a corporate spokesperson.
• Content Creation: Draft press releases, media alerts, organizational announcements, and other communication materials.
• Social Media Management: Lead all aspects of HR and corporate social responsibility assets on social media platforms, ensuring consistent and engaging content.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including media, community relations and internal partners.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams to advance Athene's communications strategy.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations. Adept at leading multiple short and long-term tasks and projects, from planning to strategy to execution to measurement.
• Skills: Strong writing and editing skills, proficiency in social media management, and the ability to develop multimedia materials. Knowledge of AP Style.
• Education: Bachelor's degree preferred (Journalism, PR, Communications, or English) or equivalent experience.
