We are currently looking for a Expert in Semantic Web Technologies to strengthen the Cronos Europa team. The position is based in Luxembourg.
Knowledge Engineering and Semantic Data Specialist.
We are seeking an consultant to contribute to the development, maintenance, and management of semantic technologies and knowledge engineering activities. The selected expert will collaborate closely with project teams, domain experts, and external contractors to ensure the quality, consistency, and interoperability of knowledge-based systems.
2. Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesThe service provider will be responsible for:
Knowledge Engineering Activities
Development and maintenance of ontologies and knowledge graphs.
Mapping of data sources to ontologies using RML or equivalent tools.
Implementation of semantic data pipelines to convert data to RDF.
Querying and analysing semantic data using SPARQL.
Collaboration with domain experts to capture and model knowledge.
Technical and Documentation Support
Review and preparation of technical documentation, communication materials, and presentations.
Development and maintenance of internal tools and automations to support operations.
Coordination and review of software deliveries, releases, and deployments.
Project Support
Assistance with technical decision-making and project steering.
Interaction with business analysts, customers, users, project leaders, and developers.
3. Required Knowledge and SkillsEssential:
Strong skills in Data Modelling and Data Analysis.
Programming proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript.
Ability to adapt to evolving technologies in Semantic Web and Interoperability domains.
Proven capability to write clear, structured, and high-quality technical documentation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both with technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable (considered an asset):
Experience with Ontology languages (OWL, SHACL, etc.) and related tools.
Knowledge of RDF serialization formats (Turtle, JSON-LD, etc.).
Familiarity with semantic data stores (Virtuoso, Apache Jena, GraphDB, etc.).
Understanding of Linked Data principles and best practices.
SPECIFIC EXPERTISE
- Software engineering in Python and/or JavaScript
- Data modelling, systems modelling and UML.
- Source control with Git
- Experience with GitHub or GitLab CD/CI pipelines will be an advantage.
- Translation of business requirements into technical specifications.
- Semantic Web technology stack:
• Formal Ontologies, OWL, SHACL
• RDF data and data formats
• RDF mapping and RML
• SPARQL, triple stores and semantic search
Proficiency in the following tools and processes is also required:
- Agile development and backlog/issue management (especially using GitHub Issues and Jira Issues)
- Software lifecycle management
- Release management.
- Software packaging and distribution
