At 3Shape, we are passionate about advancing digital dentistry through continuous innovation, and we are looking for an experienced Software Developer for wireless communication to join our R&D team!

About us

3Shape started with a simple idea: to make 3D scanning better. Today, we are a global company with more than 2,000 employees across the world, including around 500 colleagues at our Copenhagen headquarters.

Together with dental professionals and talented colleagues, we develop award-winning 3D scanning and software solutions that are transforming the way dental professionals work. By replacing traditional physical impressions with highly accurate 3D scans and digital workflows, our technology helps dentists work more efficiently, expand their treatment options, and provide better experiences and outcomes for patients.

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Developer in R&D with a strong background in electronics, software, physics, or another relevant STEM field, who wants to develop ideas and software for 3Shape’s top-of-the-range scanner systems. You will join an innovative and agile team working in a stimulating environment in close collaboration with electronics, optics, and mechanical specialists.

As people, we are social, open-minded, and proud of our strong team spirit. The team’s primary responsibility is embedded and non-embedded software for 3D scanner systems, both wired and wireless. You will develop an in-depth understanding of our scanner systems and help strengthen our position as a global leader in the dental scanner industry. Together with your team, you will work with the latest versions of our core technologies, including C++, C#, and GitHub Actions. We continuously explore and adopt new technologies that help us improve performance, quality, and the user experience.

Innovation is a central part of how we work. We encourage people to think differently, take ownership, and exchange ideas openly. This mindset helps us stay curious, agile, and engaged with a broad range of technologies and applications while developing solutions that make a real difference for dental professionals and their patients.

Your Responsibilities

Together with your team, you will help ensure that our scanner systems stay ahead of the competition. You will drive the development of central core modules related to wireless communication, helping to ensure that the full scanner system communicates reliably across our products. We value your ideas, software development skills, and contribution to an effective and continuously evolving development process. You will be part of a cross-functional team of highly skilled and collaborative colleagues who set the bar high for innovation.

Furthermore, you will:

  • Assume responsibility for improving the quality and performance of wireless scanner connections.

  • Develop and maintain software that provides a stable connection between scanner, PC, and networks.

  • Develop ways of testing connectivity in a smart way, challenging the setup and scanning conditions.

  • Keep up with technologies related to wireless connectivity, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

  • Develop the next versions of our scanner in close cooperation with software, optical, electrical, and mechanical engineers.

  • Contribute to a fun and professional work environment within the team and across the 3Shape family. We value humor and a positive spirit.

Your Profile

  • An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in electronics or communication technology engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent.

  • 4–6 years of software development experience.

  • Programming skills in one or more object-oriented languages, preferably with experience in modern C++ and C#.

  • Strong interest in and a good understanding of low-level software or embedded development.

  • Good understanding of communication and networking development. Wireless development experience is useful but not required.

  • Experience making solutions work in real-life environments, or experience with Wi-Fi network configuration, Windows/Linux network setup, and network troubleshooting.

  • Mindset for quality, flexibility, creativity, emerging technologies, and seeing priorities from a user perspective.

  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux technologies.

What we offer

  • A vibrant and international environment with social, diverse, highly skilled, and collaborative colleagues. Our Denmark-based office brings together more than 20 nationalities with many different backgrounds.

  • An attractive healthcare package to help you stay fit and well.

  • Daily breakfast and a delicious, healthy lunch prepared by our private chefs.

  • A social work environment with many optional activities and clubs, ranging from wine and beer tasting to board games, running, and cycling.

  • A healthy work-life balance that supports both collaboration and flexibility.

  • Attractive offices and R&D lab spaces in downtown Copenhagen, close to Kgs. Nytorv, Nyhavn, and the Copenhagen canals.

  • A purpose-driven workplace where we empower dental professionals to provide superior dental care for every patient, every time.
