SUMMARY:

The Executive Vice President, Employee Benefits will be responsible for the overall Mid-South (MSO) Employee Benefits line of business.  Reporting to the President of MSO, this executive level position is a strong client relationship manager and employee benefits expert.  Further, this role represents our entire Employee Benefits Value proposition and proposes viable solutions to manage the menu of benefit options for clients. By staying on top of emerging trends in Employee Benefits, you will help develop the strategy for young Producers that allows them to contribute to and flourish in a team environment and engage in regular professional development to best assist their clients in their annual renewal process and any other possible options that would enhance or meet the client goals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a vision and plan for sustained profitable growth of the practice throughout MSO
  • Along with the VP of Employee Benefit Operations– co-own/manage the EB Budget for the region
  • Ensure we are delivering the right sales and consulting experience
  • Be a thought leader in technical aspects of Employee Benefits
  • Lead innovation and strategy for the overall practice to ensure continuous development of EB products and service offerings aligned with identified needs and future needs of EB customers
  • Recruit, onboard, develop Producers
  • Accountable for growth and retention
  • Assists with and implements best practices for account stewardship
  • Interfaces with partners as needs (Health & Performance/Service/Marketing/Financial)
  • Plays key role at finalist meeting as Employee Benefits Expert
  • Assist our Producers with closing new business by speaking to every HUB specialty
  • Ensure we are delivering the right sales and consulting experience
  • Join large or otherwise important cases as a strategic presence
  • Activate and strategically deploys specialty services and experts to win business, secure existing accounts and evolve multi-year plans for our customers
  • Develop long-lasting relationships with client teams and Producers to grow and retain business
  • Develop long-lasting relationships with carriers, key vendor partners and other stakeholders and interfacing as needed to grow business and resolve issues
  • Positively and proactively represents HUB in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of experience within employee benefits
  • Hands-on manager who enjoys mentoring and direct management of staff
  • Proven client service record in retaining business and improving cross-sell results
  • Can institute effective employee development procedures which address training, processes and procedures, E&O avoidance, continuing education, recruiting, hiring and disciplinary actions
  • A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients and associates
  • An ability to help our business owners evolve our service and strategic delivery to move with changing markets.   We support clients across all size segments including small group, middle market and key accounts (national and international footprints) up to 10,000+ employees.
  • A passion to seek emerging strategies and vendors to support them
  • A drive to complement a strong team and supplement roles where needed
  • Understanding of the insurance market, carriers and products
  • Ability to work with national accounts, companies with multi-national footprints
  • Strong Financial Statement and Budget Literacy to not only support the management of profit and loss, but to communicate our value to financially minded customers and vendors
  • Strong visibility within the communities we serve
  • Highly developed organization and time management skills
  • Strong written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills
  • Public speaking and presentation experience
  • Strong degree of self-motivation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/motivate others
  • Is influential and persuasive with the ability to partner across HUB and work well with segment and other practice leaders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • High attention to detail essential
  • Travel varies. Up to 25% locally and may have several occasions that require travel to various US states.

EDUCATION, LICENSING OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College or University Degree required; additional certifications preferred
  • Active Tennessee Life and Health License required

Department Business Operations

Required Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience

Required Travel: Up to 25%

Required Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year degree)
