The Role
Job Description SummaryThe Executive Leader – Operations, AI and Tools Strategy and Productivity Transformation for Nuclear Engineering serves as the principal strategic partner and operational leader to the Executive Director of Engineering. This role leads the strategic management and transformation of global engineering operations across 85+ engineering teams spread across 4+ countries, shaping organization-wide strategy, process and policy as a key member of the executive leadership team. Partners cross-functionally with HR, finance, Advanced Research and senior leadership to optimize operations, drive enterprise-wide lean initiatives, implement AI Applications, Digital and foster a culture of continuous improvement including managing external strategic contractor alliances. Oversees business planning, budget attainment, major resource allocation, and 1200+ headcount management for a $1B+ function, ensuring full alignment with corporate objectives and operational excellence. Be the main strategy driver for Engineer 2030 productivity and Vernova Corporate initiative driver for “revenue/Engineer” metric improvement of 2X. Directs the resolution of highly complex, enterprise-level challenges and represents Engineering leadership across the GE Vernova enterprise, strengthening organizational influence and delivering sustainable cost productivity at scale.

Job Description

Strategic Planning and Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and financial metrics to meet engineering objectives.
  • Oversee budget attainment, headcount planning, and operational pacing to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Lead engineering’s yearly strategy and budget sessions.
  • Lead engineering’s overall lean programs including yearly productivity targets and fixed production cost savings.
  • Partner and negotiate all engineering’s contractor alliances.
  • Manage a total of over $1B of engineering functional spend and liquidate across traditional op-profit, OTR and engineering CAPEX investments.
  • Maintain a strong connection with Finance and Sourcing to ensure optimal cost and value for the business.
  • Prime responsibility for “Engineer 2030” initiative. Interactions with 6 Vernova business groups for best practices and tool sharing.
  • Prime responsibility for Vernova Corporate challenge of improving productivity of “Revenue/Engineer” by 2X by 2030 with implementation and embrace of AI.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Provides executive leadership to a direct team of 5 professionals, while exerting significant influence over 140+ embedded employees within the team.
  • Ensures full alignment of cross-functional resources to Nuclear Engineering strategies, driving superior business and financial results across the enterprise.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including HR, indirect sourcing and finance, to resolve organizational challenges.
  • Lead critical initiatives and provide long-range strategies to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a key facilitator between business and engineering functions, connecting business strategies with engineering execution to drive actionable outcomes.
  • Drive synergies with other GE Vernova businesses through best practice sharing, leveraging learnings across the enterprise, and promoting consistency to facilitate a "One Team" culture.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans for the engineering teams.
  • Present engineering performance and updates to senior leadership.
  • Communicate engineering’s overall strategy, yearly budget, and quarterly financials.

Lean Transformation:

  • Improve the effectiveness of the Lean operating model through high-quality Lean execution across the sub-businesses, with a focus on maximizing MOR impact, delivering on actionable roadmaps, and strengthening daily management practices.
  • Advocate for lean principles and techniques, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate lean, quality and productivity initiatives across engineering to create value, streamline processes and drive organizational transformation.

Operational Excellence:

  • Drive consistent global operations strategies and standardize work processes.
  • Monitor lean activities and quantify impacts on business performance.
  • Drive AI Applications across Engineering to drive productivity and cost savings.
  • Lead team driving implementation of Engineering Tools, Configuration Management, Document Control, Technical Writing, Product Definition, Software and Infrastructure Support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering and/or MBA.
  • Executive leadership experience in Engineering operations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent business acumen, including understanding of budgeting and financial reporting
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $220,000 and $300,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
