Position overview

This role is responsible for establishing, enhancing, and continuously improving risk management capabilities in the assigned local market(s) under RGA’s Enterprise Risk Management framework. This role also provides independent oversight of all relevant risks in the local market(s) in accordance with RGA’s Risk Appetite and Tolerance Framework. In this role, you will ensure that appropriate risk management governance, policies, and practices are established and works closely with key stakeholders across the country, region, and corporate functions to maintain alignment with corporate and legal entity governance requirements and ensure compliance with local regulations. This role also supports local market(s) management and the Regional Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in promoting an effective risk culture, including fostering cooperation and coordination across all functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation and running of ERM program in the local market(s) and ensure effectiveness of the risk management with close collaboration with Regional Financial and Operational Risk Management teams

  • Lead consistent adoption of corporate risk governance to the assigned local market(s), considering applicable local regulatory requirements

  • Support the assigned local market(s) management to identify, assess, and manage risks arising in the local market by providing inputs as independent function for the sustainable business growth

  • Lead local risk-related communications to regional risk management

  • Implement regional and corporate risk management initiatives within the assigned local market

  • Running functioning local market Risk Committees to strengthen risk oversights and escalate issues to the regional risk management in a timely manner

  • Coordinates and plans the actions and directions towards the solid responses to the regulatory inquiries and orders.  Leads the equipment of forward-looking compliance risk framework

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience enterprise risk management or related fields of relevant experience

  • Recognized enterprise risk management designation is preferred

  • Experience working in enterprise risk management disciplines with a focus on risk and control self-assessments, emerging risks and key risk indicators

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders at various levels

  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent ability to drive to conclusions and deliver results on a timely basis

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing experience, research, guidelines, and internal resource networks

  • Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational issues

  • Advanced project management skills.  Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan

  • Expert skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including the ability to handle changing priorities

  • Ability to foster a collaborative, teamwork oriented and customer service focused environment that leads to consistent, value-adding solutions

  • Strong PC and technical skills, including spreadsheets and presentation software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English
