The University of Miami's UMIT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Executive Director, Identity & Collaboration Systems to work in a hybrid capacity based in Coral Gables, Fl.

The Executive Director, Identity & Collaboration Systems provides strategic and operational leadership for enterprise identity, access, communication, and collaboration technologies. Oversees the planning, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of platforms that support user authentication, authorization, messaging, productivity, collaboration, and related digital workplace services. Leads teams responsible for system architecture, integrations, vendor management, service delivery, security compliance, and technology adoption while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and industry best practices.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes the strategic vision, roadmap, and operational plans for enterprise identity and collaboration technologies in support of organizational objectives.

  • Directs the administration, maintenance, integration, and optimization of enterprise platforms supporting identity management, access controls, communication, collaboration, and productivity services.

  • Oversees technology modernization initiatives, evaluating emerging solutions and implementing enhancements that improve operational efficiency, user experience, reliability, and security.

  • Leads cross-functional teams responsible for platform architecture, configuration, integrations, data migrations, system performance, and ongoing support services.

  • Establishes governance frameworks, standards, policies, and procedures to ensure technology solutions align with organizational, regulatory, security, and privacy requirements.

  • Collaborates with business, operational, academic, clinical, and technology stakeholders to identify needs, prioritize initiatives, and deliver technology solutions that support organizational goals.

  • Directs vendor relationships, contract management, licensing strategies, and service performance to maximize value and ensure operational effectiveness.

  • Oversees service delivery and operational performance through the establishment of metrics, service level objectives, continuous improvement initiatives, and issue resolution processes.

  • Develops and manages departmental budgets, resources, staffing plans, and strategic investments to support current and future business needs.

  • Leads, mentors, and develops staff through performance management, succession planning, training, and professional development initiatives.

  • Evaluates risks and implements appropriate controls to safeguard institutional systems, information, and technology assets.

  • Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

  • Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required

  • Strategic Alignment: Skilled in aligning departmental goals with enterprise-wide strategy and develops comprehensive strategic plans.

  • Financial Management: Ensures fiscal responsibility, and optimization of financial performance.

  • Resource Management: Ability to allocate resources and drive innovation and growth.

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to adjust to changes and leads/inspires transformational change.

  • Team Leadership: Ability to build and lead high-performing teams, manage complex projects, and ensure successful project delivery.

  • Technology & Analytics: Understanding of technology, data analytics, and performance measurement to drive strategic decisions and identify opportunities.

  • Communication: Ability to influence others, articulate strategic vision, and ensure clear and persuasive communication.
