This position is open only to current NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services employees—including temporary employees (hired directly or through Temporary Solutions)—and former NCDA&CS employees eligible for RIF priority reemployment under G.S. 126.
This position provides executive-level support to the Chief of Staff and works alongside the Commissioner’s Assistant and another Chief of Staff’s Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the executive office. Responsibilities include complex scheduling, meeting coordination, research, correspondence, constituent and stakeholder communications, travel coordination, and administrative support. Serves primarily as an assistant to the Chief of Staff while also assisting with communications and coordination with internal and external partners, including department staff, constituents, community organizations, agricultural industry leaders, legislative and government offices, and other stakeholders. Prepares briefing materials and information for meetings, tracks follow-up items and correspondence, and helps ensure executive priorities and schedules are effectively managed. Requires exceptional organization, professionalism, discretion, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Must have a valid Driver's License.

Recruitment Range: $45,431- $70,000

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
