CIC is on the hunt for a charismatic and meticulous Event Lead for CIC Tokyo & CIC Institute. This role offers the chance to dive into a full-time position, perfect for someone with extensive experience in orchestrating, curating, and spearheading diverse events and programs.

CIC builds and operates a global network of innovation campuses where startups, scale-ups, corporations and public entities connect, work, and grow. Founded in 1999, CIC manages more than 1.5M square meters of innovation-focused workspace, laboratories, and event space across North America, Europe and Asia. Additionally, CIC develops innovation-related programming, builds and enables industry clusters, and provides world-class innovation consulting.
CIC Tokyo is our first site located in Asia. Opened in October 2020 in one of the business districts of Minato-ku, CIC Tokyo is a one-of-a-kind innovation-oriented center in Japan with a total area of about 6,000 square meters on the 15th and 16th floors of the Toranomon Hills Business Tower. We provide a vast workspace with the capacity to house more than 250 companies. CIC Tokyo is centered on companies that aim to grow, and communities and services that are looking to accelerate their business growth and global expansion. Because of its influence in startup and innovation scenery, CIC Tokyo has frequent visits of VIPs such as Prime Minister Kishida, Governor Koike, and other business leaders in Japan. It is now recognized as a prestigious center of new businesses and startups by business leaders throughout the country.

ABOUT CIC INSTITUTE
CIC Institute, a division of CIC, specializes in building innovation ecosystems and supporting startups by leveraging CIC's extensive knowledge and global network. The Institute spearheads industry-specific communities to foster collaboration and drive practical applications through events, community building, and consulting projects. These initiatives aim to strengthen innovation ecosystems in key industries and geographies, such as deep tech, energy and environment, and life sciences.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK
In this role, you will utilize a broad skill set encompassing planning, communication, negotiation, and time management, while effectively handling pressure. You will take charge of all aspects of CIC Tokyo and CIC Institute events, from planning and coordination to execution and evaluation.
Potential responsibilities will include:
• Managing event details, including providing tours and quotes for spaces, communicating with event hosts, building management, and security, ensuring alignment with set policies, marketing, arranging staffing, and conducting follow-ups and stakeholders.
• Responsible for revenue generation driven by event sales.
• Curating and developing enriching events and programming to strengthen the CIC communities.
• Handling all promotional aspects, such as social media, website content, and designing print and digital collateral for events, alongside managing communication with suppliers, partners.
• Overseeing logistics, negotiating with suppliers, managing budgets, engaging with clients to meet their needs, and troubleshooting, including overseeing technical aspects like sound, lighting, and AV equipment, and responding swiftly to any unforeseen challenges.
• Introducing innovative ideas to enhance event quality, coordinating and delegating tasks within the team, and collaborating with technicians and industry experts to ensure seamless event experiences.

As an Events Lead, you play a crucial role in shaping gatherings that reflect our mission-driven goals. Your expertise in event planning and commitment to excellence are key to elevating their impact. With a passion for our mission, you are adept at organizing and executing events that align with our objectives and actively engage our community.
In this position, you bring specialized knowledge that interlocks with our mission, creating impactful and innovative experiences. Your abilities in fostering community connections, utilizing digital media, and working collaboratively are instrumental in broadening the scope and appeal of our initiatives. With an inclusive mindset, adaptability, and comfort with digital tools, you ensure our programs resonate with diverse groups and remain flexible to evolving needs.
YOU HAVE
• At least 3 years of professional experience with managing events (professional event coordination, community organizing, the innovation ecosystem, or community building strongly preferred).
• Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends and to attend community events on behalf of CIC.
• Native fluency in Japanese and strong English proficiency.
• Ability to legally work in Japan. CIC is unable to sponsor visas for this role at this time.
