Job Description

Position Overview
We are seeking an organized and collaborative Extended School Year (ESY) Special Education Coordinator to oversee the planning, implementation, and compliance of the ESY program. The coordinator will ensure that all services align with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and that staff are supported in delivering high-quality instruction and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of the ESY program, including scheduling, staffing, and student groupings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations
  • Review student IEPs to confirm appropriate ESY services and supports are in place
  • Supervise and support ESY staff, including teachers and paraprofessionals
  • Coordinate related services (e.g., speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy)
  • Monitor implementation of IEP goals and ensure accurate data collection and documentation
  • Provide guidance on behavior supports and instructional strategies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families and staff during ESY
  • Address concerns, problem-solve, and ensure a safe, supportive program environment
  • Oversee completion of progress reports and required documentation

Qualifications

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification (required)
  • Experience in special education with strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance
  • Previous leadership, coaching, or coordination experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating ESY or summer programs
  • Knowledge of special education compliance and reporting requirements
  • Experience supporting diverse learners and implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs)

  • The candidate is expected to attend conferences, meetings and training sessions both virtually and in person within the Region. 

Work Environment

  • Reports to work Monday-Friday.

  • Typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to work location. 

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary for this positoin is $3,750 for the entire summer session.
