Estimating Intern

As an Estimating Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience within our Preconstruction team, helping develop accurate and competitive project estimates that support winning work and delivering successful projects. You'll collaborate with estimators, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients while learning how construction projects are planned, priced, and brought to life.

This internship provides valuable exposure to commercial construction, cost estimating, and preconstruction services, making it an excellent opportunity for students interested in construction management, engineering, or building a career in the construction industry.

• Review project drawings, specifications, and other construction documents to understand project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in developing detailed cost estimates.
• Utilize bid solicitation software to engage subcontractors, track bid coverage, and support subcontractor outreach through phone, email, and other communication channels.
• Attend estimate kickoff meetings and collaborate with preconstruction and project management teams.
• Gather pricing and cost information from subcontractors, suppliers, databases, and industry resources.
• Assist in evaluating labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing to reflect current market conditions and project-specific requirements.
• Prepare estimate documentation, worksheets, and supporting materials for internal review.
• Communicate professionally with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to clarify project scope and pricing considerations.
• Support estimate comparisons and cost reconciliations to understand key cost drivers and project risks.
• Help maintain organized estimate files and project records.
• Learn and apply emerging construction technologies, estimating tools, and industry best practices.
• Assist with estimate closeout and project handoff activities.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.

• General knowledge of commercial building construction methods and terminology.
• Previous internship, estimating, or construction-related experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• General understanding of construction systems and CSI MasterFormat divisions.
• Interest in project planning, cost estimating, and preconstruction services.

Experience with or willingness to learn:

• Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
• Bluebeam Revu.
• Estimating and quantity takeoff software.
• Construction document management and collaboration tools.
