Role Overview
- Serve as a strategic leader and advisor to the VP of External Relations, supporting high-impact institutional engagement across Mexico.
- Drive TC Energy’s positioning in business chambers and policy ecosystems, with a strong focus on energy security, North American integration, and economic competitiveness.
- Support the identification of business opportunities in alignment to ER’s objectives (e.g. natural gas storage, miners, data centers, LNG, offshore interconnections).
- Play a central role in advancing the company’s visibility and influence through leadership in business chambers, including the execution of TC’s presidency in Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CANCHAM).
- Create strategic partners with chambers and companies (across various sectors) on key policy issues, such as community development, investment promotion, and others
Profile & Qualifications
- International experience, with a proven track record operating across countries.
- Knowledge of Mexico’s energy and economic policy framework, including regulatory, political, and market dynamics.
- Strong understanding of North American energy systems, regional integration, and geopolitical trends.
- Direct experience engaging with:
- Chambers of commerce (particularly in Mexico)
- Government institutions at senior levels
- Diplomatic and multilateral stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to influence at the C-suite and policy-making level.
- Established network within think tanks, business councils, and policy communities.
- Proven experience leading high-visibility initiatives or institutional agendas (e.g., chamber leadership roles, advocacy campaigns, partnerships).
- Exceptional skills in:
- Strategic thinking and execution
- Stakeholder management at senior level
- Communication and narrative development
- Navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Teamwork and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Economics, International Relations, Business or any related field. Master’s degree highly appreciated.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience working directly with state and local officials and/or government relations in the private sector.
- Highly proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish, as well as Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as required.
- Flexibility to travel and attend off-schedule work related events.
