The Global Sustainability Office (GSO) is the team that drives the sustainability strategy & transformation in Vanderlande with the goal to embed sustainability in all our business units and daily practices. As an advisory team with deep expertise, we collaborate with many colleagues within the organization

As Vanderlande, we have defined a future-proof Data Strategy and are going through transformation within the organization. Data Governance and ownership is changing, we introduced an integrated Data Platform and move away from outdated technology. In addition, the need to measure our sustainable impact is more important than ever before with upcoming regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and initiatives like Science Based Targets (SBT).

That is why we are looking for a ESG Analytics Consultant to strengthen our Global Sustainability Office. In this role you will report to the Head of Corporate Sustainability.

What will you be doing?

As the ESG Analytics Consultant you act as a trusted advisor for business partners and business teams, on data (requirements), policies and tooling related to sustainability.
You are responsible in making Vanderlande a sustainable company and fully own connecting different parts of the organization with various data needs and keeping an integrated view. You set the vision on data and tooling with respect to sustainability data & drive implementation. You set the framework, and are responsible for defining, managing and implementing initiatives around Sustainability data. You work closely with:

  • Data owners (incl. direct GSO colleagues) across the organization to collect business needs, define data requirements, identify gaps for data gathering, define implementation plans, manage data delivery, and organize maintenance.
  • IT for technical solutions (e.g. data platform development, tooling)
  • Finance & Legal for compliance reporting

An overview of your responsibilities:

  • Align the Sustainability Analytics roadmap with our corporate data & sustainability strategy, translation into concrete initiatives as part of the Portfolio.
  • Define, prioritize, validate and obtain buy-in for the Sustainability Analytics roadmap from key stakeholders
  • Bring all sustainability data points together. Collect & maintain the integral view on sustainability data requirements based on the business logic/needs and definitions provided by the various stakeholders.
  • Use case management: manage, monitor and communicate on progress during implementation. Lead and work with others within the community to execute and deliver (and execute yourself if required).
  • Take ownership for sustainability data products (e.g. carbon accounting)
  • Support data owners (e.g. climate change and circularity) and raise the level of sustainability data literacy in the organization.
  • Realize the data & tooling landscape for optimal data supply & access (i.e. compliance ESG, strategy OKR/portfolio management, up-to-date information management & knowledge base for GSO and the organization, sustainability rating tools e.g. EcoVadis or other customer requests)
  • Explore and propose innovative, efficient, and cost-effective data solutions to meet sustainability information needs and to drive sustainability performance.

What do we expect from you?
You are passionate about sustainability, and experience in sustainability is a big plus.

  • Strong analytical understanding and the ability to see the big picture without losing sight of details.
  • 5-10 years of professional experience, strong expertise & proven track record in Data Analytics and (ESG) tooling
  • Experience in project management, preferable with a background as consultant. A Project Management qualification is preferred
  • You feel comfortable and can communicate effectively with people at different seniority levels.
  • Solution-oriented mindset, strong advising skills and can-do mentality.
  • Experience with data governance and compliance (reporting).
  • Flexibility and a true builder navigating across the organization. Ability to drive and enjoy the, sometimes bumpy, road to success
