The PositionThe Solution Architect for ERP Application Lifecycle (ALM) Processes, Framework and Tools is the primary technical authority responsible for architecting the transition from legacy SAP Solution Manager to a modern, future-proof ALM ecosystem. In this role, you will lead the strategic design and operational excellence of the global "Requirements to Deploy" process, ensuring that our delivery pipeline remains robust during a period of significant technological shift.
Your core mission is to navigate the complexities of SAP’s Cloud ALM offering while maintaining the flexibility to custom-build proprietary solutions when standard tools lack the necessary influence on design or functional depth. As part of your daily remit, you will:
Architect the Pivot: Actively evaluate the functional gaps within SAP Cloud ALM and decide where the organization must "Build" rather than "Buy." You will be responsible for the high-level design of custom ALM modules (potentially on SAP BTP or other cloud-native platforms) to ensure our specific business requirements are met.
Design the "Requirements to Deploy" Lifecycle and Lead Technical Decisioning: You will orchestrate the end-to-end framework including Business Process Modelling, Requirements, Change, Transport, Release, Test, Defect and System Documentation Management. You are not just a tool user; you are the designer of the framework that enables these processes.
Govern Hybrid Landscapes: You will define the integration patterns required to link SAP-specific ALM components with the broader enterprise DevOps toolchain, ensuring a "clean core" strategy while managing the decommissioning of legacy SolMan/ChaRM environments.
Qualifications
Mastery of ALM Transition & Toolsets: Expert-level knowledge of legacy ALM (SolMan, Focused Build, ChaRM, Worksoft, Adonis) paired with the ability to architect migrations to SAP Cloud ALM.
8+ years of Custom Build & Extensibility Expertise: Proven experience in designing custom-built enterprise software or side-by-side extensions. You must demonstrate an "architectural mindset" capable of building bespoke tools when SaaS products offer limited design influence.
SDLC & DevOps Proficiency: Deep understanding of ERP change management and transport layers, with a modern approach to API-first design, CI/CD pipelines, and automated release orchestration.
Advanced competency in using AI-augmented engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, SAP Joule, or equivalent) to improve code quality, automate documentation, and design intelligent extensions that bridge functional gaps in standard SaaS offerings
Lifecycle Management: Proven track record of managing at least 2–3 full-scale ERP implementation or upgrade lifecycles, specifically focusing on the architectural trade-offs between "Standard" and "Custom" solutions.
Strategic Compliance: Solid background in IT Service Management / ITIL, alongside experience in Computerized System Validation (CSV) and ICFR, ensuring custom-built ALM tools meet global regulatory standards.
Global Architectural Leadership: Experience working in a large global company, demonstrating the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders
English Communication: Superior command of the English language (both written and verbal) is essential for collaborating with global stakeholders and presenting complex ALM strategies to leadership.
