Title                 Equity Research Analyst

Department      Equity Research

Location          Paris, France

Reports To       Director of Research

Level                7

Introduction

We’re proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together - and supporting each other - all over the world. So, join our Equity Research team and feel like you’re part of something bigger.

About the team

The primary responsibility of the Analyst is to generate high conviction, investment recommendations based on differentiated, in-depth analysis of industry and company fundamentals.  We believe it’s only through first-hand due diligence and insight, rather than overreliance on bought-in research, that we can fully evaluate an investment’s true potential and consistently add value for investors in our funds.  Our coverage model is primarily in-region and sector-focused.  Coverage assignments and tenure, in-role, can and do change, depending on sector characteristics and commercial requirements as dictated by the Equity Leadership Team.

About the role

You will initially be responsible for analysing stocks across multiple sectors making investment recommendations and being an integral and collaborative part of our research and asset management effort.  You will:

·       Write and communicate research notes resulting in high conviction recommendations that leverage a variety of due diligence / valuation techniques

·       Attend relevant internal and external meetings, sharing your investment views and ideas as warranted

·       Be a key point of contact for companies, helping to own relationships and interactions with them

·       Share your knowledge and insights broadly and collaboratively with investment professionals across the firm

·       Prepare, present and communicate differentiated industry / thematic pieces as necessary to further our Shorting thought-leadership

About you

We seek candidates who are entrepreneurial, highly-motivated, collaborative and comfortable taking risks.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high degree of independent thought, curiosity and intellectual honesty.  You will have excellent financial analysis skills, great business judgement and outstanding communication skills.

We are looking for candidates who have most, if not all, of the following characteristics:

·       A demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for investing, preferably supported by an audited track record of material alpha generation

·       An entrepreneurial self-starter, keen to expand their remit and responsibilities over time in line with the development and evolution of our business.

·       First-class numerical, analytical, accounting, communication, and teamwork skills

·       Highly organised yet flexible, deadline oriented with an ability to work under pressure

·       Willingness to study for the CFA and/or other regulatory qualifications as necessary

·       Requirement to undertake the IMC Unit 1 exam and CFA Level 1 or Full IMC exam unless exempt

Feel rewarded

For starters, we’ll offer you a comprehensive benefits package. We’ll value your wellbeing and support your development. And we’ll be as flexible as we can about where and when you work – finding a balance that works for all of us. It’s all part of our commitment to making you feel motivated by the work you do and happy to be part of our team.
