Position Overview
The role of Equities Front Office Quantitative Strategist involves working with several investment teams across Equities, applying quantitative expertise to solve business problems through a variety of analytical methods. The candidate will work extensively with historic and current data sets to develop, back test and implement trading strategies, having a measurable impact on our business. They will work closely with the investment staff and the quantitative strategy team.

Reporting To: Head of Quantitative Data Strategy
Major Responsibilities
- Work directly with portfolio managers, analysts, and traders across several strategies in Equities.
- Develop frameworks to backtest portfolio strategies and validate models over historical data to ensure robustness and accuracy.
- Design and implement advanced quantitative models to optimize equity portfolios based on risk, return, and other constraints.
- Effectively communicate these strategy recommendations to senior portfolio managers and traders.
- Partner with the Technology team to design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Integrate SFM and third-party data sets related to historical reference data, factor data, end of day and tick-level data, corporate actions (IPOs, Secondary, M&A, Spin-offs, etc.).
- Design and implement APIs that enable fast, secure, and reliable access to large datasets and analytics tools, ensuring that researchers can retrieve and interact with data seamlessly.
- Build UI tools to display analytical findings to assist PMs and traders in their investment decisions.
- Collaborate with other strategists within QDS on data architecture and analytical strategies and recommendations.
Requirements
- Master’s or P.hD. degree in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering or a STEM field.
- 10 or more years of experience with developing front-office tools and analytics.
- Understanding of Equities markets, including familiarity with capital markets (IPOs and secondary offerings) and corporate actions (mergers, spinoffs, etc.).
- Experience with signal research, back testing, and portfolio optimization.
- Advanced understanding of Equity Risk Factor models and their applications for risk forecasting, hedging and performance attribution.
- Knowledge of factor-based investing, statistical arbitrage, or other systematic equity strategies is a plus.
- Must possess the ability to synthesize complex quantitative techniques into actionable and practical insights, bringing advanced analytical methods with strategic business decision-making.
- Familiarity with common data science and machine learning tools and libraries (e.g. Pandas, Sklearn, etc.).
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and principles is required.
- Experience in building or expanding in-house libraries or frameworks to support quant research. This includes creating reusable components, modular code, and documentation for broader team usage.
- Familiarity with common financial tools and market data providers (e.g. Bloomberg, FactSet, CMG).
- Experience with Python.
- Experience with other programming languages is a strong plus.
- Experience building analytical UIs and visualizations for front office users.
What We Offer
- We anticipate the base salary for this role will be in the range of $200k – $250k. In addition to base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus, as well as other benefits.
