Job Description:

The Role: 

  • Design, procure, implement, and validate advanced automation and capital equipment to unlock   

  • Develop new automated equipment by coordinating its design, purchase, or construction, ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and lifecycle cost efficiency. 

  • Establish and deploy globally standardized equipment platforms across sites to ensure consistent performance, simplified maintenance, shared spares, and accelerated technology. 

  • Enable production expansion at each site by driving the development and introduction of capacityscaling equipmentshortening rampup time, derisking launches, and aligning with demand plans. 

  • The following recent projects reflect ongoing initiatives in MTD-CoE and the associated resource requirements: 

  • NOVA/BCP Project 

  • YNZ EX/PGME Expansion project 

  • YNZ WEC Capacity Expansion project 

  • YNZ Future Expansion project 

New equipment development for new products (Both WEC and Photo) 

 

In this role you will: 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Automation & Equipment Development 

  • Design, procure, implement, and validate advanced automation systems and capital equipment to enhance operational efficiency and manufacturing scalability. 

  • Develop new automated equipment by coordinating its design, fabrication, and qualification, ensuring manufacturability, reliability, safety, and total lifecycle cost effectiveness. 

  • Drive the introduction of capacityscaling equipment to support production expansionreducing rampup time, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with global demand plans. 

  • Identify, lead, and support continuous improvement initiatives and new equipment/process projects by developing detailed specifications, electrical drawings, implementation plans, and other required documentation. 

  • Evaluate existing processes and introduce new automation, tooling, or processimprovement methods to enhance product flow, improve quality, increase firstpass yield, and reduce cost and lead time. 

  • Create or revise work instructions, routings, and technical documentation; train production and maintenance teams on setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment and processes. 

Global Platform Standardization 

  • Establish, deploy, and continuously improve globally standardized equipment platforms across multiple manufacturing sites. 

  • Ensure consistent equipment performance, simplified maintenance procedures, optimized spareparts strategies, and accelerated technology transfer. 

Manufacturing Performance & Collaboration 

  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, and supplychain teams to achieve 100% ontime delivery performance by eliminating quality issues, resolving bottlenecks, and improving equipment performance and capacity. 

  • Support readiness for new product introductions, ensuring equipment capabilities, documentation, and processes meet production requirements. 

Traits we believe make a strong candidate: 

  • A background in mechanical engineering or equipment design is preferred. 

  • Licensed mechanical engineer is preferred. 

  • Handson experience in designing and commissioning automated mechanical systems. 

  • Proficiency in designing mechanical components and automation mechanisms is preferred. 

  • Experience with robotics integration, including robot programming, endeffector design, and safety systems. 

  • Experience with vision systems, image processing, and camerabased inspection technology. 

  • Expertise in safety system design, including risk assessment, functional safety, and safety controller programming. 

  • Experience with mechanical reliability tools or statistical process control (SPC) is a plus. 

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, a plus. 

  • Experience with SQL—specifically MSSQLand the ability to navigate, create, and optimize databases for historical data storage and data analysis is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with electrical systems and control panel design, such as wiring diagrams, sensors, actuators, and power distribution. 

  • Capability to perform rootcause analysis using structured methods such as 5Why, FMEA, or fishbone analysis. 

  • Strong project management skills, including requirement definition, scheduling, and crossfunctional communication.
