Job Summary

WHO ARE WE

The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As an equipment engineer with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.

Nidec is the world’s leading electric motor manufacturer and a true pioneer in electrification across a wide array of industries since its foundation in 1973, ranging from appliance, energy infrastructure, to ground transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. Job Description

As an Equipment Engineer, you play a crucial role in developing the Electric Engine Driver. Your responsibilities include translating system requirements into equipment requirements, designing the equipment's architecture, facilitating the integration of lower-level requirements for hardware, software, and firmware, developing procedures and test cases for functional and environmental tests, and conducting equipment level testing. Your expertise is essential in ensuring the successful implementation of this cutting-edge technology.

 

·       Responsible for the equipment level aspects of the Driver

·       Flow down of systems requirements to equipment requirements

·       Definition of the Driver architecture

·       Support lower-level requirements capture (Hardware, Software and Firmware)

·       Support mechanical engineers on equipment chassis design

·       Oversight Hardware, Software and Firmware activities to ensure successful equipment integration.

·       Integrate hardware, software and firmware

·       Plan functional and environmental equipment tests

·       Create test procedures

·       Execute functional and environmental tests procedures

 TECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

·        Experience with electronic product development and phase-gate processes

·        Experience in development of electromechanical propulsion systems or electromechanical actuation systems

·        Experience in development of high voltage motor control equipment

·        Experience with development of safety critical controllers

·        Experience with requirements-based development, requirements management and V&V process

·        Knowledge about embedded software and FPGA firmware development

·        Experience with integration of hardware, software and firmware

·        Experience with airworthiness certification requirements

·        Experience with equipment level safety assessment

·        Experience with ARP 4754A

·        Experience with DO-254

·        Experience with DO-160

·        Experience with IBM DOORS or JAMA

·        Experience with MATLAB, Simulink

·        Willingness to work with, and travel to, domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary.

Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level) 

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field

·        7 years of experience in electronic product development
