Overview

We have an excellent new opportunity at Pragmatic Semiconductor for an Equipment Engineer to join our Operations function in Durham! Working as part of a highly-skilled and collaborative Equipment Engineering team at our Pragmatic Park site, this is a critical role which will provide key support as we continue our manufacturing scale-up.

Reporting to the Head of Equipment Engineering, you will have responsibility for working on a range of 300mm semiconductor equipment, specialising in the Photolithography and Bake areas. You will support Operations and Technicians routinely, and will work effectively across departments to minimise tool down time, and help us to exceed equipment uptime objectives.

We are looking for candidates with significant Photolithography tool experience (ideally steppers) as well as a proactive attitude and approach.

We are offering a highly attractive benefits package for this position, including Visa sponsorship/relocation support to the UK (Durham). This is a day shift role, however depending on business requirements, some out-of-hours or weekend support will occasionally be required.

If you are keen to join an innovative manufacturer during a key phase of growth, we would love to hear from you!

  • Maintain tool tracking system, reports, and parts relevant for Equipment

  • Report and present technical reports on equipment performance excursions

  • Support the efficient management and running of Cleanroom activities, including Health and Safety, 5S and CIP’s

  • Provide secondary support for other areas such as Etch, Deposition, Metrology, BEOL and Automation

Qualifications and training

Candidates will ideally be qualified to HNC/HND (or degree) level in Engineering, or will possess equivalent experience. Experience of working within a Quality Systems environment such as ISO9001 is essential.

OEM Semiconductor Equipment training, and experience of using a Production MES system for Product and Equipment tracking, would both be advantageous.

  • Significant experience within a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment, specifically in Photolithography Wafer Track, Stepper and Bake processes

  • Extensive use of Hand Tools and Test Equipment

  • Demonstrable ability to systematically fault-find on complex equipment

  • Ability to create detailed written procedures (such as from equipment manuals) for maintenance tasks to be performed

  • Experience of mentoring/training of Technicians, Apprentices and Junior Engineers

  • Experience of reporting of Standard KPI’s and providing input into CIP activities

  • Ability to work as part of a team, and independently using your own initiative

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage own time/workload effectively

  • Knowledge of semiconductor tools and processes in other areas such as Etch, Deposition, Metrology, BEOL and Automation (desirable)

  • Experience with Chemical/Gas Systems (desirable)

  • Experience of Robotics and PLC systems (desirable)

  • Experience in start-up and /or installation phases, including Facilities and commissioning of equipment (desirable)

What We Do

Pragmatic has developed an integrated circuit platform that doesn’t rely on silicon. Our revolutionary technology uses thin-film semiconductors to create flexible integrated circuits that are thinner than a human hair, and are significantly cheaper and faster to produce than silicon chips. This provides a compelling alternative for many mainstream electronics applications, as well as enabling new applications not possible with silicon. Pragmatic’s ultra-low-cost, ultra-thin, flexible integrated circuits make it possible to embed our chips into almost anything, bringing connectivity and intelligence to everyday objects. Example applications include radio frequency identification (RFID) and near field communications (NFC), where our chips cost less than a penny and allow these everyday objects to be given unique digital identities as well as interact with their environment. This brings game-changing benefits to the entire product lifecycle, including inventory reduction, traceability, counterfeit detection, proof of provenance, and customer interaction.
