About the role (your why)
As an Environment Manager, you will be responsible for governing and managing the release lifecycle and non-production environments for our customers. Working within an ITIL-aligned framework, you will coordinate the movement of releases through testing, pre-production and production environments while ensuring all agreed environments are maintained to the required standards.
You will act as a trusted advisor to delivery teams, project stakeholders and customers, helping to drive release readiness, environment availability and continuous service improvement.
This role includes an after-hours component to support the deployment of releases into customer environments.
What You'll Be Doing
Release Management
- Plan, schedule and coordinate releases across multiple testing and production environments.
- Maintain and enforce release management processes, standards and governance controls.
- Ensure all release components are appropriately packaged, versioned and deployment-ready.
- Facilitate release readiness reviews, implementation planning sessions and post-implementation reviews.
- Coordinate migration activities and ensure effective communication across all stakeholders.
- Raise and manage deployment activities within change management systems.
- Provide guidance to development and project teams on change and release management procedures.
- Ensure operational, security, privacy, support and implementation readiness requirements are met prior to go-live.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within release management practices.
- Maintain accurate release registers, schedules and deployment calendars.
Environment Management
- Manage and oversee agreed non-production and managed environments.
- Provide guidance and oversight for the creation, modification and retirement of environments.
- Monitor environment health and coordinate remediation activities where required.
- Ensure environments remain patched, maintained and aligned to agreed standards and versions.
- Facilitate environment change assessments, including impact and risk discussions.
- Coordinate environment usage, bookings and scheduling with stakeholders and third-party providers.
- Resolve environment contention and prioritisation challenges.
- Act as an escalation point for environment-related issues and incidents.
- Support projects and technical teams in delivering new environment requirements.
What You'll Bring
Essential Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience within Information Technology environments.
- Proven experience in a Release Management and/or Environment Management role.
- Demonstrated experience working across internal teams, customers and third-party vendors.
- Strong understanding of Release Management principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of Environment Management processes and governance.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Experience supporting integrated technology platforms and systems.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling.
- Exposure to complex enterprise environments and managed services.
