Portable Ship Control System (PSCS), part of department 442, is an engineering team that designs and supports communications and navigation aids. In collaboration with vendors, the team performs a complete product development cycle, starting with concept development, then requirements definition, design, prototyping, qualification testing, software development, delivery, and post-delivery support.
Knowledge of systems engineering, software programming, electrical/electronic circuits, hardware/software integration, networking, and cybersecurity are desirable. It is not expected that a single candidate will have knowledge of all of these disciplines. Work will be conducted in Groton / New London, CT facilities, with part-time work from home available based on needs of the department.
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products is also desirable.
The ability to work in a team environment is required. The job may also include limited US and overseas travel.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering by December 2026.
- 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense
Preferred:
- Experience in submarine electronics system development, integration, installation and test
- Experience with the Microsoft suite of products
- Exposure to hardware and software development tools
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
- Experience working successfully both in a team environment and independently
