Job Description

We're a growing freight brokerage looking for an Entry Level Data Engineer to help build and maintain the data systems that power our operations. You'll work with our Sales, Account Management, Carrier Sales, and Track & Trace teams to design data solutions that make information more accessible and actionable across the organization. With guidance from our experienced team, you'll develop practical skills in data engineering while making a real impact on our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data pipelines and ETL workflows that extract, transform, and load freight and logistics data into our systems
  • Build data integration solutions that connect our TransportPro TMS platform with other business tools and data sources
  • Write clean, maintainable SQL queries and Python scripts to extract, analyze, and prepare data for reporting and analytics
  • Create and maintain data quality checks and monitoring tools to ensure accuracy and reliability of operational data
  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, Carrier Sales, and Track & Trace teams to understand their data needs and translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Support the development of foundational analytics and reporting that help teams make better decisions
  • Document data pipelines, workflows, and processes clearly so that others can understand and maintain your work
  • Troubleshoot data issues and work with the team to resolve problems that impact data reliability
  • Learn and apply version control best practices using Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Stay curious about emerging data technologies and best practices in data engineering to continuously improve your skills

  • Foundational analytics and reporting that support decision-making across Sales, Account Management, and Track & Trace teams

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Strong foundational Python skills with the ability to write clean, maintainable code
  • Solid understanding of SQL and experience querying relational databases for data extraction and analysis
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, and basic data integration concepts
  • Experience with or strong interest in learning ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development practices
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when working with data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes and explain technical concepts clearly
  • Eagerness to learn emerging data technologies and best practices in data engineering
  • Freight, logistics, or supply chain industry experience is a plus; familiarity with TMS platforms is advantageous
