Job Description
Role Purpose:
The Carrier Systems Engineer is responsible for building, supporting and expanding the telecommunications infrastructure of Superloop to support robust and scalable network services. This role involves working in a small team of highly skilled engineers working on various Linux based technologies, including RADIUS, DNS, monitoring and multiple database platforms. The engineer will play a crucial role working independently and in a team to complete projects ensuring the reliability, security, and performance, contributing to the company's ability to deliver high-quality services to its customers across Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Systems Administration/Security Patching/Support/Reporting/BugFix/Re-Branding/New Features/Product Engineering and Testing.
- Ensure all aspects of the platforms and network are thoroughly documented and ensure these documents and diagrams are up-to-date;
- Code reviews across the team validating architecture and performance
- Work with Carrier systems team to ensure that the platforms meet the business requirements
- Follow change management processes for all changes following simple risk management
- Developing high quality reports and documentation of new and existing configuration
- Diagramming and documenting current and future architectures.
- Provide input to design discussions
- Monitoring platforms to ensure performance and reliability, enhancing current monitoring processes
- May require on-call availability and working outside regular business hours to resolve critical issues or perform scheduled maintenance.
Qualifications
- 5 Years+ Linux Experience in a server environment.
- Linux based virtualisation technologies and containerisation.
- Proven experience with Freeradius development, particularly in Telco ISP authentication involving IPOE, PPPOE and DHCP technologies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible mindset and the ability to work in a complex changing environment.
- Experience with Ansible, CICD processes, Version control systems (git).
- Programming experience in Perl, PHP and Unlang and other languages would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of various database systems (e.g. SQL, NoSQL) including strong. administration skills, building highly available and high performance databases.
- Understanding ITIL and other change management platforms highly desirable.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Networking experience - Switching and routing, VLANs, Virtual Routing and Forwarding protocols like BGP, anycast. IPv4, IPv6.
- Knowledge of telco network architectures and how they work.
