Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

About This Job
This position is onsite and will be located at our HQ in San Diego, CA. Remote or Hybrid is not available for this role.
We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Solutions Architect to inform and guide execution of our software development roadmap in support of Enterprise Technology Strategy. Reporting to the Chief Architect, you will see the “big picture” and create architectural approaches for architecture, design and implementation to guide the technology teams. This role offers a unique greenfield opportunity for a seasoned practitioner to shape the future of Enterprise Architecture at Digital Bank from the ground up. As an Enterprise Solutions Architect, you won’t just be implementing technology — you’ll be a key architect of a transformative vision. You’ll play a pivotal role in establishing a robust architecture practice, defining standards, frameworks, and best practices that will guide the bank’s long-term evolution, all while supporting projects and strategic program architecture. Beyond technology, this is a chance to influence strategic direction, drive business impact, and collaborate across diverse teams to build a scalable, future-ready ecosystem.
This role requires a strong technical background, hands-on approach and excellent people management skills, including demonstrable experience in leading organization level change. The goal is to provide a framework for the development of technology ecosystem through high quality solutions that meet business needs, are highly scalable, modular, maintainable, portable and extensible. Additionally, the ability to develop a unified vision and communicate that vision effectively at all levels of the organization from the developer through executive level is critical. This position is on-site and may be located in San Diego CA or possibly REMOTE depending upon your location.
In this role, you will drive the strategic design and modernization of hybrid banking systems, focusing on seamless integrations, data architecture, and legacy migration. Addressing technical debt and enhancing real-time data processing capabilities will be critical to supporting banking operations. You’ll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to guide architectural governance and ensure scalable, future-proof solutions that align with business objectives while balancing mobile and web experiences with core backend systems.

Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture - Experience with Design Patterns, Best Practices, Standards & Policies.

Integration Architecture – Expertise in APIs, microservices, and middleware.

Data Architecture – Strong knowledge of data modeling, data pipelines, MDM, data management, data governance and real-time data processing etc.

Cloud & Hybrid Solutions – Proficiency in cloud platforms and hybrid environments. Experience on major hyper-scalers is good-to-have.

Legacy System Modernization – Experience in migrating/refactoring legacy systems.

Technical Debt Management – Ability to assess and reduce technical debt.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management – Proven collaboration skills across teams.

Architectural Governance – Experience in setting standards & policies, design patterns, architectural principles, and ensuring governance and compliance.

AI/ML Integration – Knowledge of AI/ML in banking systems.

DevOps & Automation – Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree

10+ years' designing and implementing Technology Solutions & Architecture

Proven experience as Architect working on large-scale software projects

Excellent knowledge of web applications, message-oriented-middleware, cloud delivery of microservices, REST APIs, cybersecurity, software quality assurance principles, and more

Experience designing and developing software in a variety of languages including C#, Java, PHP, ASP DOT Net, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks, React, Angular, Ionic

Experience / knowledge of UML, C4, 4+1 Architecture models, and other modeling methods

Experience overseeing customized development of processes for multiple projects simultaneously

Professional experience analyzing code for weaknesses, errors, and security vulnerabilities. Experience overseeing plans to remediate and improve processes to prevent them
