Description of Work

The Enterprise Solution/Technical Architect is responsible for providing technical design guidance for application solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals, scalability, and security. In this role, you will develop architecture frameworks and guide development and project teams in solution design. You will also drive seamless integration, evaluate emerging technologies, and solve complex technical challenges to support long-term IT sustainability. This position provides direction across all architecture domains to support current and future IT operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and departmental regulations, as well as adherence to defined architecture principles, standards, and models.

Salary Grade Range: $105,341.00 – $184,345.00Recruitment Range: $105,341.00 – $140,000.00

  • Provide technical leadership for one or more of the following domains: Business Architecture, Application/Software Architecture, Database Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture and Security Architecture.

  • Participates in the RFP process and vendor evaluation. Hands-on experience to build MVP (Minimal Viable Product) technology solutions in the cloud.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business ecosystems, cloud computing architectures, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.

  • Experience working with Microservices, containerization, immutable infrastructure and migrating existing workloads to the cloud.

  • Knowledge of solution designs and implementation experience to meet architecture quality standards.

About the NC DHHS Information Technology Division

In collaboration with our partners, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) protects the health and safety of all North Carolinians and provides essential health and human services. The IT division (ITD) is one of the divisions that report to the Operational Excellence portfolio. The ITD division comprises four sections: Implementation and Operations, Strategy and Workforce, Enterprise Technology, and Vendor and Finance. ITD offers the following services but not limited to implementations, operations, project/portfolio management, infrastructure, consulting, business division liaison, digital transformation, IT strategy, enterprise technology, IT contract and vendor management, and data office services.
