The Role

What success looks like in this role:

 • The Enterprise IT Architect is engaged across portfolios and works towards assisting in the translation of business objectives and requirements into an enterprise compliant IT system specification with a focus on the performance, robustness, and operational supportability patterns across the solutions; 

• Perform market assessments on suitable IT software/infrastructure/technology and provide objective, expert advice/recommendations in compliance with EASA architectural standards. 

• Facilitating the development of architectural policies and standards as well as technology architecture roadmaps for one or more of the architectural domains (infrastructure / data / application / solutions); 

• The Architect assures the end-to-end architectural, holistic view of the Agency’s IT system environments for their adherence to the specification standards; 

• Provide high-level architectures, as well as solution designs, reviews and oversight standards /Policy Governance; 

• Planning, documenting, communicating life cycle state for enterprise technologies (Invest, Maintain, Divest) that enable stability, dependability and recoverability of IT and operations; 

• Facilitate the definition of the Strategic IT Architecture, “To be” domain architectures and transition paths. 

• Provides architectural support and advice within a defined technology, system or structural area.
• Leverages technical and business understanding and experience to play a key role in Enterprise, Data or Systems Architecture, as summarized below.
• Participates in the conceptual phases of identifying and solving business problems and initiatives.
• Assists with the development of frameworks, standards, policies, principles and procedures that guide technology decisions and maximize the reuse of technology.
• Helps drive consistency and automation through the implementation of technologies and tools.
• Helps drive best practice decisions on software development, coding, performance tuning and integration.
• Contributes to the definition of processes, standards and technologies / frameworks.
• Facilitates technical design reviews, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and consistency across the organization.
• Supports team efforts to define, develop and implement business / user-focused data structures and related management systems.
• Creates data monitoring models for various business / product areas.
• Develops database design and architectural documentation in support of departmental initiatives and programs.
• Works with software, related technical and other relevant stakeholders to ensure maintenance of data integrity and security.
• Supports the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
• May monitor system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.
• Defines and contributes to the development of key aspects of company systems architecture, working with technical colleagues to articulate principles, system constraints and qualities to help devise elegant operational solutions.
• Adds to the planning and development of the architectural runway in support of new features and capabilities.
• Works with product and solution management to determine capacity allocation for enablement work.
• Engages with cross-functional partners and colleagues on:
o Pre- and post-program increment planning,
o ‘Architecture sync’,
o Solution capabilities demonstration, and
o Release management,
• Alignment of technologies across initiatives, programs and projects.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity architecture. Technical Expertise 

• Skilled in Enterprise Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture, Information Architecture, IT Architecture and/or Data Architecture; 

• Strong technical expertise and proven design skills with breadth of knowledge across different architecture disciplines (Data/Application/Infrastructure/Network layer); 

• Ability to conducts stakeholder and architecture capabilities reviews using industry standard notations and tool such as UML or ARIS;

• Experience with Webservers, Application servers, Messaging, Data technologies, Storage, Server Platform, Networking, System integration, Interoperability, API management and related technologies; 

• Knowledge in major enterprise and IT architecture frameworks, preferably TOGAF; 

• Experience in securing IT applications and infrastructure in hybrid cloud architectures; 

• Knowledge of project management methodologies.
