Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
Position Description
Our Engineer II is a key member of the Mobility Engineering Operations staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.
Position Responsibilities
As an Engineer II, you will:
- Develop and implement change management plan
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage the day-to-day change management process for the team
- Monitor and evaluate change progress and provide recommendations/feedback
- Assume ownership of existing business processes and services
- Drive enhancement and continuously improve the quality of servicers and end user experience
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
- Work with senior engineers to define the technical architecture and support the implementation of new hardware standards/services from technical perspective
- Support projects migrating from existing platforms to new platforms
- Build product definition and use your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
- Analysis and Estimation skills
- Drive proof of concepts to test new technologies with hardware and software, working closely with cyber, network, and telecommunication teams
- Assure 24x7 operations and stability of services with high regard for end user experience
- Support the creation of the enterprise level roadmap in terms of supporting multiple vendors for future business demands
- Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient systems
- Provide knowledge share, mentoring, and systems training to junior team members as needed
- Consistently share best practices, and improve processes within and across teams
- Contribute to significant business initiatives, attend scrum meetings, and give presentations
- Solve difficult problems, learn new technologies, and push the boundaries of what is possible
Qualifications
- Experience in change management strategy development
- Risk Identification and mitigation
- Communication planning and execution
- Change progress monitoring and evaluation
- Basic working knowledge of hardware Windows OS/Apple OS
- Basic experience with installation, configuration, and management of hardware/software
- Basic experience with Active Directory and Azure AD
- Experience working with vendors for technical support
- Basic understanding of the security and compliance needs of the business and how they apply to certificates and secure communication
- Basic understanding of Virtual and Cloud infrastructures
- Basic understanding of networking protocols, devices, and telephony
- Basic understanding and ability to correlate alerts into problem resolutions, including custom alerts with thresholds for greater availability and stability
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
Experience
- 2+ years of non-internship professional experience with ITIL
- 2+ years of experience with architecture and design
- 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
- 1+ years of experience with any scripting and API integration
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
- Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) or equivalent
Annual Salary
$80,000.00 - $160,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
