OVERVIEW:
Specializes in working with complex data sets to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies. Identifies and compiles data sets using a variety of tools to help predict, improve, and measure the success of key business-to-business outcomes
This role encompasses a comprehensive analysis lifecycle, covering requirements gathering, activity execution and design planning. Transforming raw data into structured information which will then be analyzed to glean insights that drive strategic business decisions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with engineering and product development teams to understand business requirements.
Prototype data using Structured Query Language (SQL) or other querying tools with guidance from more experienced personnel.
Understand data flows for business user stories within the context of data.
Create mapping and specifications from requirements identified in user stories, profile and review mapping requirements and business scenarios to flush out requirements.
Conduct basic data analysis.
Prepare, create, and execute test plans and scripts using SQL, Python or scripting to test user stories with guidance from more experienced personnel.
Provide appropriate data to inform business decisions based on working knowledge of specific business processes within their assigned business domain.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years related experience.
Intermediate skills in SQL for data.
Proficient with data analysis and statistical tools.
Basic knowledge of data cataloging and data lineage tools.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Experience working as a member of an agile team.
Business Domain Knowledge (specify domain for posting).
Experience understanding and applying data governance policies.
Intermediate skills in Python for data.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $70,023.60 - $116,706.01 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
